Design

The Okami S90 robot vacuum cleaner looks little different from its peers. But that's only at first glance. The developers have carefully crafted the model, creating a clean and understated design. The combination of glossy and matte black plastic gives the device a rugged feel. This color scheme is very practical and easy to maintain, as simply wiping the robot with a damp cloth will leave it looking as good as new.

The Okami vacuum cleaner's bumper is equipped with a special rubberized strip that protects furniture from accidental collisions with the body. The bumper contains sensors, rangefinders, and a receiver that helps the robot locate its home station.

Under the lid is a waste container. This container has a special valve that prevents waste from spilling back out. The device's distinctive feature is its top cover. It attaches to the panel with magnets, making it much easier to open.

The robot vacuum cleaner is controlled using touch buttons on the control panel and an IR remote control. The difference is that the control panel only selects the operating mode, while the remote control allows you to control the device, change modes, and direction. The remote control can also be used to set a cleaning schedule.

An overview of the device's capabilities reveals that the Okami S90 robot vacuum cleaner operates in 4 modes. In addition to the standard modes, the model also features a new type of movement (compared to Okami S80) – zigzag movement. This mode reduces the device's runtime by 25% and increases the area covered during cleaning.

In automatic mode, the robot surveys the room and determines the optimal cleaning mode, adjusting it as it moves. The "spiral" mode is ideal for larger spaces. The Okami S90 robot vacuum cleaner begins its spiral motion from the center of the room, increasing its radius. By collecting debris along the baseboard, it allows for perimeter cleaning. This mode is also convenient because if the robot collides with furniture, it detects it as a wall and moves along it, improving cleaning performance. However, the most popular mode is the scheduled cleaning mode.

Advantages and disadvantages

Reviewing the Okami S90, we can identify its main advantages and disadvantages. The robot vacuum cleaner's key positive qualities are:

  1. Possibility of both dry and wet floor cleaning.
  2. Disinfection of the surface to be cleaned using an ultraviolet lamp.
  3. Convenient and practical package (several sets of spare brushes and cloths for wet cleaning).
  4. The presence of a limiter in the form virtual wall.
  5. Style and originality in appearance.

If we talk about the disadvantages, they are as follows:

  1. Robot Okami gets tangled in wires.
  2. Cleaning of debris in corners is not at the highest level.
  3. Problems in collecting heavy waste.
  4. The area to be cleaned is less than that stated by the manufacturer.
  5. Customers complain that the robot vacuum cleaner does not always find its base.

Overall, considering all the advantages and disadvantages, we can conclude that this robot vacuum cleaner is a rather average performer. Considering the price, which in 2018 was $220, it's not the best robot vacuum cleaner, as you can find a similar product from a higher-quality manufacturer for the same price. However, the Okami robot will simplify cleaning for owners of small apartments and houses, meaning it gets the job done.

Finally, we recommend watching a video review of the Okami S90, which clearly shows how this robot vacuum cleaner cleans:

I've owned the vacuum for two years now, and overall I'm very happy with it. I didn't like the seller's attitude: the battery isn't covered by the warranty at all, and mine died after just six months of not using it for two or three months, even though I stored it charged and turned it off. A new one is prohibitively expensive—4,000 rubles. I bought a replacement for 2,000 rubles; it fits a little tight in the compartment, but it works just as well as the original. I can't find the manual with error codes; I've been getting error E032 frequently, which causes the unit to stop working for no apparent reason, followed by a water leak from the tank.
