Okami U90 Vision: A Powerful Robot Vacuum Cleaner with a Camera

We previously reported that Okami has launched three new robotic vacuum cleaners. In this review, we'll focus on the mid-range model—the Okami U90 Vision. This robot is equipped with a camera for navigation, can map rooms, and, just as importantly, is suitable for both dry and wet cleaning. In this article, we'll cover the new model's specifications and features, as well as how it cleans and what makes it special.
Equipment
The Okami U90 Vision delivery kit is complete and includes all the necessary elements:
- The robot vacuum cleaner itself
- Docking station with power adapter
- Remote controller
- Separate tank for wet cleaning
- Microfiber for wet cleaning (2 pcs.)
- Side brush (4 pcs.)
- HEPA filter (2 pcs.)
- Brush for cleaning the dust bin
- Instructions
- Warranty card
Please note, a virtual wall is not included, as you can limit the cleaning area in the app. Otherwise, all necessary components are included in the box.
Design
The Okami U90 Vision has a rather interesting, yet minimalist appearance. Its signature Space Black color, combined with the camera and just two buttons on the body, makes the robot look neat and user-friendly. Incidentally, the camera's placement and design are very reminiscent of the new ones. iRobot Roomba i7 And i7+.
The dust container is located on the side and is easily removed. Also on the side is a mechanical bumper, exhaust vents, a speaker, and a power button.
The bottom of the robot features side brushes, a central bristle-petal turbo brush, wheels, and a swivel roller. A microfiber cloth can also be attached to the bottom of the robot if a wet cleaning tank is installed. A U90 version with a UV lamp is expected to be available later this year; for now, it's only available as an option for the Okami U100.
Technical specifications
We have summarized all the main characteristics of the Okami U90 Vision in a table:
| Battery | Li-Ion, 2600 mAh |
| Suction power | From 1800 to 2500 Pa |
| Cleaning area | Conditionally unlimited* |
| Opening hours | Up to 120 min |
| Charging time | 240 min |
| Dust container/water tank capacity | 600/360 ml |
| Height of obstacles to be overcome | Up to 2 cm |
| Overall dimensions | 33*7.6 cm |
| Weight | 3.3 kg |
*Conditionally unlimited cleaning area - Okami U90 Vision has a recharge function. If the vacuum runs out of battery while cleaning, and the cleaning process isn't complete, it will recharge at the base and resume where it left off.
The model's specifications are quite standard, except for the suction power. It has increased to 2500 Pa due to a change in the motor's position. The manufacturer positioned the motor closer to the dust collector, resulting in increased power (most competitors have around 2000 Pa).
Functional capabilities
So, the first thing to talk about is the Okami U90 Vision's navigation. The robot vacuum cleaner is equipped with a camera, which helps it navigate its surroundings. Camera-based navigation is one of the most advanced, comparable to robot vacuums equipped with lidar. The robot can detect various objects in an apartment or house, remember their locations, and create a floor plan. After mapping, the Okami U90 Vision cleans faster and plots the optimal route from room to room.
Another important feature is the intelligent wet cleaning function. Liquid is supplied from a separate tank to the cloth. This tank is equipped with a special chip that electronically regulates the amount of liquid supplied to the microfiber cloth. This allows you to control the degree of wetting of the cloth depending on the type of floor covering. The water tank is capacious – 360 ml.
The robot vacuum is controlled via a mobile app, which allows you to create virtual walls (motion barriers), select a suitable cleaning mode, and set a weekly schedule. It's also important to note that there's a resume function. If the battery runs low during cleaning, the robot will return to its base, recharge, and resume cleaning from where it left off.
Incidentally, this robot, like its siblings in the new line, is fully Russified. This means the robot vacuum cleaner is equipped with Russian voiceover, and the manual and mobile app are translated into Russian.
Finally, I'd like to highlight the manufacturer's updated side brushes and central turbo brush. The side brushes feature an additional tuft of bristles on the side, preventing hair and fur from tangling. Meanwhile, the central brush is detachable, making it easier to clean. This, coupled with its powerful suction, makes the robot ideal for vacuuming pet hair and fur.
Operating instructions
Before using your robot vacuum cleaner for the first time, we strongly recommend reading the manufacturer's instructions. This guide will explain how to maintain the robot, what features are available, and what to do if any basic problems occur.
You can download the operating instructions in Russian by following the link: U90 Vision manual.
Pros and cons
To summarize, let's highlight the main advantages of the Okami U90 Vision:
- Precise camera navigation.
- High suction power.
- Advanced wet cleaning.
- There are useful features in the application.
- The body height is only 76 mm, the robot can move under furniture.
- Completely Russified.
- There is a guarantee and service.
- Works well on pet hair.
There aren't any particular drawbacks, considering it's a robot vacuum with a camera, and the navigation technology itself isn't cheap. It has all the necessary features for automatically maintaining a clean home, so for $320, it's a good option.
