The Panda X7 is a newcomer to the robotic cleaning market. This robot vacuum cleaner is poised to earn rave reviews and become a top seller in 2019. It boasts a stylish and minimalist design, and the manufacturer has equipped it with a modern NIDEC motor with twice the power of comparable models. Notably, this model features a reverse airflow system that blows air upwards rather than along the surface. This is a completely new approach. Learn more about the features and functions of the new Panda X7 robot vacuum cleaner in our review.

Equipment

The manufacturer included the following components in the box:

  1. Robot vacuum cleaner.
  2. Power adapter.
  3. Charging station.
  4. Remote control with batteries.
  5. Wet cleaning unit + two wipes.
  6. Two air filters.
  7. Four side brushes.
  8. Brush-knife for cleaning the dust collector.
  9. Instructions in Russian.
  10. Guarantee.

As we can see, the delivery set is not meager, but it does not include a movement limiter, which is a minus.

Appearance

The Panda X7 robot vacuum cleaner has a smaller footprint than similar models. This allows it to clean hard-to-reach areas. It comes in two colors: black and white. Unfortunately, the white version is only available internationally. The matte, textured surface protects the robot from dirt and scratches. The robot is round in shape.

Looking at the top, we see a control panel with a metallic touchscreen. It also features an on/off button, above which are three indicator lights that indicate the device's current status, whether it has an active Wi-Fi connection, and a house icon (which lights up when the device is low on battery and searching for a docking station).

The side panel is also finished in a metallic color. It features a soft bumper with optical height sensors, exhaust vents, and a pull-out dust container for emptying and replacing it with a water container when needed.

On the back of the robot vacuum cleaner are two side wheels and one central wheel, two side brushes, a turbo brush (made of bristles and silicone), a battery, contact pads, and an area for attaching a microfiber cloth. The wheels are independent components: if needed, the wheel can be removed without disassembling the entire body.

Functional capabilities

The robot is equipped with a powerful motor from NIDEC, a world leader in household appliance motors. The model's average suction power is approximately 1800 Pa, 50% greater than that of similar robot vacuum cleaners (typically, suction power does not exceed 1200 Pa). The motor is located in the dust collector, occupying approximately one-third of its volume. This solution is quite controversial, although common, since the robot has a wet mopping function, which requires a separate tank, which, accordingly, does not contain a motor. Therefore, wet mopping should only be performed after dry mopping.

It's worth noting that the dust collector is equipped with coarse and fine filters. The water tank is designed with electronically controlled water flow, so when the robot vacuum stops and finishes cleaning, it blocks the capillaries that deliver liquid to the cloth.

The device's navigation system is based on the SLAM method (developed by Epson Corporation). Thanks to this new technology, the robotic cleaner can store up to 200 square meters in its memory during a single cleaning cycle. The Panda X7 moves in a zigzag pattern, marking areas it has already cleaned and those it hasn't yet visited. Using a dedicated mobile app, you can monitor the cleaning map. The app also allows you to schedule cleaning and make other settings.

Overview of the main operating modes and movements of the robot:

  • local (local);
  • quick cleaning;
  • in a spiral;
  • zigzag;
  • along the walls.

A paper manual in Russian is included with the Panda X7's basic package. An electronic version is not yet available because the model is brand new.

Advantages and disadvantages

In conclusion of the review, let's look at the main pros and cons of the Panda X7 robot vacuum cleaner.

Advantages of a robot vacuum cleaner:

  1. Compact size, excellent design solution.
  2. High quality assembly and execution.
  3. Powerful LongLife+ battery.
  4. High suction power.
  5. Different operating modes.
  6. Wet cleaning with electronic liquid supply.
  7. Modern navigation and cartography.
  8. Control from a smartphone.
  9. Low noise level.

Cons of Panda X7:

  1. There is no movement limiter included.
  2. The engine is located in the dust collector.
  3. High price. At the end of 2018, the robot cost around $350.

Overall, the robot vacuum cleaner is quite interesting and functional, but the price is a deterrent, as most people aren't willing to spend more than $500 on a robot. Moreover, for the same price (or even less), you can choose a model from a more reputable brand, such as iRobot, Xiaomi, or iClebo.

Finally, we recommend watching a short video review of the Panda X7, which shows how this robot vacuum cleaner cleans:
