Appearance
A review of the Philips FC8822/01 robot vacuum cleaner reveals a modern and stylish design. The body is a traditional round shape with slightly tapered edges, allowing it to navigate obstacles. The bottom half of the body is made of black plastic with a matte finish, while the top half has a dark silver finish.
The dust compartment cover occupies most of the top panel, framed by a decorative insert made of metallized plastic with a mirror-like smooth surface. Adjacent to it is a control panel with three touch-sensitive buttons and status indicators. A microphone hole is also located here. The entire front of the Philips FC8822/01 is surrounded by a movable bumper housing infrared receivers and obstacle sensors. The rear of the device houses the charging contacts and an infrared receiver that directs the robot to the charging dock. The power socket and power button are located on the left side of the device.
A view of the underside of the body reveals a pair of long-bristled side brushes, a rubber squeegee with a wide nozzle, a front support roller, and two main wheels. The robot vacuum's compact dimensions and low height of just 82 mm allow it to clean even under the lowest furniture.

Functional capabilities
Philips SmartPro Active FC8822/01 is a highly efficient, smart robot vacuum cleaner., equipped with all the necessary functions to carry out high-quality work.A distinctive feature of this model is the unique wide TriActiv XL nozzle, which doubles the floor surface coverage in one stroke, and a three-stage cleaning system that ensures effective cleaning.
The cleaning technology of the robot vacuum cleaner is as follows:
- First, two long side brushes sweep debris into the center, which is then fed through a pipe into the dust collector.
- The air chute and scraper ensure that debris is captured across almost the entire width of the Philips robot, thanks to the built-in motor with increased power.
- A removable panel with a cloth helps remove even the smallest dust.
Three suction holes collect dust from three directions. The dust container is also well-designed and easy to remove and clean.
The manufacturer of the Philips FC8822/01 model has provided several operating modes:
- Automatic, with a time limit, or until the battery is completely discharged, in which case SmartPro Active independently selects the trajectory of movement.
- Manual, in which the robot vacuum cleaner's movement algorithm is set manually using the remote control.
In automatic mode, the robot uses a fixed sequence of cleaning programs (movement patterns): zigzag, random, wall-mounted, and spiral. A test of the device's operating modes showed that, after completing a given program sequence, the robot vacuum cleaner repeats them cyclically in the same order until the battery is completely discharged or it is manually turned off.
Thanks to the dust sensor, the device detects areas with heavier dirt and automatically switches to the "spiral" program and increases suction power, including turbo mode for more thorough cleaning.
Philips automatically selects the optimal cleaning mode after analyzing the room environment using the innovative Smart Detection program, which consists of a system of 25 intelligent sensors, as well as a gyroscope and accelerometer. Six infrared sensors detect the location of obstacles such as walls, cables, and so on, allowing the device to avoid collisions. A height-detection sensor on the bottom of the device detects changes in height and prevents falls.
The robot vacuum cleaner is highly maneuverable; its well-designed wheels allow it to easily overcome obstacles up to 15 mm high.
Additional features of Philips FC8822/01:
- Scheduled operation. Simply set the time and day of cleaning using the buttons on the base, and the Philips will carry out the cleaning automatically, even when you're not present.
- Special device - virtual wallThe included space-saving device helps organize your cleaning. It creates an invisible barrier that the robot vacuum cleaner cannot cross, thus limiting the space needed for a more thorough cleaning.
- Clap detection. This feature uses a built-in microphone. If the vacuum cleaner gets stuck or stops due to an error, the user can locate it by the clap sound, which triggers a beep and a flashing indicator light.
- Remote control of the robot vacuum cleaner. Using the remote control, you can start, stop, direct, change the robot's trajectory, and return it to the charging station.
Operating instructions
The basic package includes a user manual in Russian. It describes in detail all the features and technical specifications of this robot vacuum cleaner model, as well as the manufacturer's recommendations for proper operation, care, and storage, which must be followed to ensure long-lasting and safe operation.

This review of the FC8822 model reveals that it has no significant drawbacks. The only thing I'd like to point out is that the average price of a robot vacuum cleaner in 2018 is $300. For some, this price is a drawback, as most consumers are unwilling to pay such a high price for a robotic assistant.

Hello! Your website is a godsend! I spent a long time deciding which one to buy, so I read your entire website, and then my husband gave me this exact model!
I couldn't be happier now. I named him Filka! We have three cats, and I have long hair and shed just as much as the cats.
I used to have to clean every day (after work), but now I come home while I'm in the shower or cooking, and it cleans itself (you can set it to "out of town" mode, and it'll be clean by the time you get home). It handles a one-bedroom apartment perfectly (pet hair, crumbs, dust, and scattered cat litter). It cleans about 40 square meters in 20-30 minutes on high power. It has two power settings, one for quieter operation and less suction. The other for increased suction and noise, but it's not a nuisance. It doesn't wander, returns to its base, and doesn't get tangled in wires, but I do remove toys (mice, etc.).
Because there is no central brush, my hair goes straight into the container and only sometimes gets tangled up on the brushes on the sides, but it is very easy to remove.
I clean the container every three days, even though it says the filter can't be washed. I washed it and everything is fine. It cleans corners quite well, and because it's so small, it fits everywhere, even under the kitchen table between the chairs. We also don't have carpets in the living room—the laminate flooring is wenge, and the kitchen, hallway, and bathroom are coffee-colored tiles, even though the instructions say it can't see dark floors. It sees everything and cleans very well. There's even much less dust. I recommend it to anyone with pets—don't skimp on money—save your time and health!
