Viomi V2 Pro: an updated version for combined dry and wet cleaning

The Viomi V2 Pro is the latest product from Xiaomi's renowned sub-brand. A previous version of this robot vacuum cleaner was recently unveiled. Viomi V2Less than a year later, an improved version of this robot is now available for pre-sale. The key distinguishing features of the new model are a combined 2-in-1 container for dry dirt and water and a new mixed cleaning mode. Its predecessor had a separate container for wet mopping and a dust collector. To vacuum and mop floors, you had to swap one container for the other. The new model offers mixed cleaning, which reduces the overall runtime. The robot vacuum cleaner has an attractive, minimalist design, is equipped with a high suction power of 2100 Pa, LDS and SLAM technologies, and has other useful features such as room mapping, zoning, scheduling, and more. In this review, we'll discuss these and other features of the Viomi V2 Pro in more detail, describing its main specifications and functions.

The standard Viomi V2 Pro package includes:

Appearance

The Viomi V2 Pro is made of modern ABS plastic in a dark gray matte finish. Its dimensions are only 350 x 350 x 94.5 mm and it weighs 3.6 kilograms. Therefore, you won't need much space for storage and transportation.

When viewing the robot vacuum from above, the protruding turret housing the LDS (lidar) sensor immediately catches the eye. The company logo is located in the center of the body, and just below it is a single button divided into two parts: the first part turns the robot vacuum on and off, and the second sends it back to its base. However, most of the top panel is taken up by the dust compartment cover, which also houses the combined dust tank and cleaning brush.

The front of the robot is equipped with obstacle sensors and a bumper to prevent collisions and impacts with surrounding objects.

The back of the Viomi V2 Pro features two side wheels and one small swivel wheel. It also features a side brush with long bristles, which helps remove dirt and debris from hard-to-reach areas. The central brush has bristles and petals. A small platform with a damp cloth can also be attached to the bottom for wiping the floor.

Functional capabilities

The robot vacuum cleaner boasts increased suction power of up to 2100 Pa. This is quite high, even for Xiaomi's line of robots.

The Viomi V2 Pro features dry, wet, and mixed cleaning modes. This is achieved with a special 2-in-1 combination container for collecting and storing solid waste, a washable HEPA filter, and a water compartment. The former holds 300 milliliters, while the latter holds 200 milliliters. This innovation allows the robot to vacuum and mop simultaneously. While mopping, the robotic vacuum cleaner mimics human movements, moving back and forth in a Y-shaped pattern.

As we mentioned earlier in the review, the Viomi V2 Pro is equipped with an LDS sensor designed to scan and map the space. This map allows for much faster and more efficient cleaning, as the robot vacuum can plan its trajectory in advance.

You can control the robot vacuum from anywhere in the world using the dedicated Mi Home app, after downloading and installing it on your smartphone. For example, you can monitor the cleaning progress and change the mode while at work or on a walk.

Before launching the robot, you can set up a virtual wall or manually specify the cleaning location directly in the app. Previously, this required a special device such as a magnetic strip or virtual wall, but now it's much simpler and more convenient.

Advantages and disadvantages

The Viomi V2 Pro is now available for purchase. The robot vacuum cleaner costs approximately $250-280 on AliExpress. This is more expensive than the previous version, the Viomi V2, which costs around $200. However, considering its specifications and features, the price is still quite reasonable compared to competitors. We'll conclude this review by listing the model's main advantages and disadvantages.

Pros:

We didn't find any particular flaws with the Viomi V2 Pro. I would have liked the robot to have two side brushes, but this is more of a general criticism of the entire model range. Otherwise, given its specifications and functionality, this robot vacuum cleaner is one of the best in its segment.
