Hello to all readers of the site robovac.washerhouse.com! After the new one appeared on the market Viomi V3, which now costs $300, many people became interested in comparing it with its similar price in the Roborock family. This Roborock S6 Pure, which also costs $300 at the time of writing. Since we've thoroughly tested both robots, we'll now share our observations and express our opinion on which robot vacuum cleaner is better.

Appearance

First, let's compare the robots themselves. Both are equipped with lidar for navigation. However, the S6 Pure's lidar is additionally equipped with a mechanical button to prevent it from getting stuck when driving under furniture. The Viomi has a standard lidar.

The Roborock S6 Pure's dust bin is located under the top cover. It holds up to 460 ml of dry dirt. The water tank is housed in a nozzle attached to the bottom of the body. Water flows by gravity onto the cleaning cloth, but there's a mechanical water level control on the nozzle itself.

The Viomi V3 also has a dust container mounted under the lid, but its capacity is larger—550 ml. This container can be replaced with a water tank of the same capacity, or with a combined water and dirt container. This container holds up to 300 ml of dust and up to 200 ml of water.

Overall, the containers in Viomi V3 are better than those in Roborock S6 Pure.

If you turn both robots upside down, you'll see that Roborock features a detachable central brush and a new five-point silicone side brush. It also features an anti-tangle system.

The Viomi has a standard three-pronged side brush with bristles. The central brush is non-removable and lacks an anti-tangle system. Overall, the quality of the components is inferior, so the Roborock is better designed in this regard.

Total 1:1, if we give Roborok a point for the garbage collection system and lidar, and Viomi for universal replaceable containers.

Equipment

Next, we will compare the configuration of robotic vacuum cleaners.

Viomi V3 comes with replacement containers, a spare cloth and side brush, as well as disposable wipes.

The S6 Pure comes with one cloth installed on the nozzle, spare dispenser valves, and a base pad.

In my opinion, Viomi is better equipped, so I give this robot a point (in total 2:1).

Technical specifications

Next, let's compare the robots' specifications. The Viiomi V3 has a suction power of 2600 Pa, while the Roborock has up to 2000 Pa. The Viiomi is slightly more powerful, but this didn't significantly impact cleaning performance. The Roborock has a slightly larger battery: 5200 mAh versus 4900 mAh.

Both robots can overcome obstacles up to 2 cm high. The S6 Pure has a runtime of up to 2.5 hours, while the Viomi V3 has a runtime of up to 3.

Roborock has a larger cleaning area—up to 250 square meters—while Viomi can clean up to 150 square meters on a single charge. In any case, both robots can continue cleaning after recharging, so this isn't a big deal.

Well, the noise level of the S6 Pure is slightly lower than that of the Viomi: 69 dB versus 75.

Overall, the compared characteristics don't differ significantly enough to give one robot an advantage. So, it's fairer to award a draw in this regard (2:1 as it was).

Functional capabilities

It's more important to compare the robots' functionality. They are similar in many ways, namely:

  1. The space is divided into rooms.
  2. There are virtual walls and no-go zones in the app.
  3. You can select rooms and areas for cleaning.
  4. Electronic suction power adjustment is provided.
  5. Stores multiple cleaning maps in memory.

The Roborock S6 Pure, on the other hand, can increase power on carpets, something the Viomi cannot. However, the Viomi V3 features electronic water flow control and a herringbone pattern for wet cleaning.

So, everyone decides for themselves what's more important. Personally, I find Viomi's functionality more useful, so I give it a thumbs up (3:1).

Quality of cleaning

And finally, cleaning quality. In our 34 square meter (350 square foot) two-bedroom apartment, both robots did a good job. The Roborock S6 Pure cleaned the entire area in 27 minutes, while the Viomi V3 took 31 minutes. The speed difference is small, especially since the apartment was slightly rearranged during testing, and there were more obstacles. So, again, it's a tie.

Roborock S6 Pure:

But as for the Viomi, the quality of wet cleaning is undoubtedly much better with this robot vacuum cleaner, so in the end, if we compare both robots by all criteria, the Viomi wins slightly because it is better equipped, more powerful, and its wet cleaning is more sophisticated.

Roborock's advantage lies in its superior brush and lidar technology, as well as navigation. Furthermore, Roborock robot vacuum cleaners surpass the more affordable Viomi sub-brand in terms of build quality and material quality.

Viomi V3:

So, overall, the robots are on par. However, I personally liked the Viomi V3 better across most criteria, so it wins this comparison by a small margin. You may have a different opinion. I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Finally, I recommend watching the video version of the comparison (everything is shown more clearly):
