Midea Robot Vacuum Cleaners: A Brief Introduction to the Brand, Pros, and Cons
Hello to all readers of the project! One of the previously published articles was devoted to a brief overview of the robot vacuum cleaner brand itself, including a general assessment of its strengths and weaknesses, as well as general impressions of the products tested. At that time, the company in question was Eufy by Anker, and the audience liked the format. Let's continue with this format, and in this review, I'd like to look at robot vacuum cleaners from Midea. I'll briefly introduce the brand itself, what Midea robot vacuum cleaners are, and what their strengths and weaknesses are. So, let's get started!
Briefly about the brand
Midea was founded 55 years ago, in 1968. It is part of the larger international Midea Group. Although Midea air conditioners are the most popular in households, this giant has many product lines. These include heating systems, large appliances, robotics, smart home devices, and even residential and commercial real estate construction. In short, they produce a lot of useful things.
The most important thing is that Midea entered the Russian market in 2012. It was founded in Beijiao, China, and is headquartered there. Currently, Midea boasts over 7,000 patents worldwide, over 130,000 employees, and 17 research and development centers. In addition, Midea ranked 245th in the 2022 Fortune Global 500..
In short, it's definitely not a no-name brand with nothing behind it. Now, about the robot vacuum cleaners themselves, which will be more useful to the audience.
Pros and cons of robotic vacuum cleaners
Speaking about Midea robot vacuum cleaners, I personally thoroughly tested four models: Midea i5C, M6, M7 Pro And S8+I also had the chance to handle other models, but only for display purposes. So, I'll tell you about the distinctive features of this brand's robots. Let's start with the positives.

The first is increased, and in some cases even high suction powerMidea robotic vacuum cleaners perform very well in test environments. Even though the figures may not be as impressive, their real-world performance is impressive and, most importantly, has a positive impact on the quality of dry cleaning.
The second is budgetCurrently, Midea's most expensive robot vacuum cleaner, the S8+, costs around $320, or $450 at the exchange rate at the time of this video's production. For this price, the manufacturer offers, again, a POWERFUL robot vacuum cleaner with lidar, a self-cleaning station, a wet mopping function, a vibration module for scrubbing away dirt, and a wide range of features in the mobile app. There aren't many similar models at this price, and during sales, the price drops by another 15-20%, making the robot a very strong competitor in the market. Other models in the line are generally inexpensive. There are robots for $6,000, $10,000, and even $150. Everything depends on the navigation and functionality. But overall, each model is cheaper than its peers due to other factors.
Midea M6:
Third - unique developmentsAs mentioned above. Midea has its own patents and unique engineering solutions. For example, the tank with a vibration module and split-wipes—I haven't seen this before in other models. At least, this applies to the Russian market. And overall, the station's design, the turbo brush design, and the dust collector layout—all of this is atypical. It's not a case of the same product being sold under different labels by different brands. And for me personally, this is a small, but still a plus.
And the last, no less important strength of Midea robotic vacuum cleaners is – adaptation to the Russian marketThis includes Russian voice notification support, a relatively well-translated mobile app interface, synchronization with the Yandex.Alice voice assistant, and even the presence of an official distributor on the market, which sells some robots with full after-sales service. Overall, despite its entirely Chinese roots, this brand strives to earn the trust of its Russian audience by improving the quality of its feedback. This is significant, again, given the cost of the product and its comparison with similarly priced Chinese counterparts.
Midea I5C:
Now about the disadvantages. In my opinion, there are only two. The main one is a considerable number of conflicting reviews About Midea robot vacuum cleaners. If you look at real reviews on marketplaces, you'll see a complete mess: some praise the same model, and it's clear that the comments aren't promotional, but genuinely written by a user with a detailed user report. Others detail a negative experience from day one. Given the budget price, it's certainly possible to expect defects and weak components, but at the same time, I've received numerous messages from satisfied owners who bought a Midea robot vacuum cleaner on my recommendation. Over time, I've received no negative feedback. The robots I reviewed were always in good working order, with no issues noted. Therefore, it's difficult to determine whether there are defective batches, mostly at launch, or whether these robots don't have enough stock to last, or whether it's the competitors' doing something wrong.
Midea M7 Pro:
Well, and the second thing is – too limited model range and the lack of flagship solutions. For example, while Midea's S8+ has been its flagship for over a year now, companies like Roborock and Dreame update their flagships several times a year, surprising us more and more. They feature artificial intelligence, trendy stations, and unique cleaning modules. Midea's situation suggests that robot vacuum cleaners are far from their core business, and therefore they can be considered ordinary workhorses for everyday use. I'll just note that there are reports of a new line of Midea robots being released soon, and perhaps this will change. But for now, I don't think it's likely.
Midea S8+:
That's basically all I've gathered so far regarding my experience with Midea robot vacuum cleaners. If you have any real-world experience, please share in the comments which robot you're using or have used, and what you think of it. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!

I bought two 7Pros, one a year and a half ago and another a year ago. The wheels on the first one stopped working (the gears wore out). The second one still works, but I also feel like one wheel sometimes slips. Replacing a wheel without repair experience and skill is impossible; it requires a complete disassembly, rerouting, and re-taping the cables for the various sensors. The price is 2,000 rubles for both wheels. Otherwise, it's an excellent, powerful model.
