Xiaomi Mijia M30S OMNI InfiniteXiaomi Mijia M30S OMNI Infinite

The Xiaomi Mijia M30S OMNI Infinite robot vacuum cleaner (model number D103CN) is a continuation of the flagship M30 series. It features new features for Xiaomi, including a baseboard wiper and a turbo brush with blades that self-cleans hair and pet hair. Additionally, the suction power has been increased to 7300 Pa. All this for $450-500 at the time of writing. Below, I'll thoroughly test the Xiaomi Mijia M30S, highlight its pros and cons, and then share my opinion. Let's get started!

This brush self-cleans while removing tangled hair and pet hair. It's an alternative to using a hair trimming station, like the Xiaomi Mijia M30 Pro. We'll be using that one.

The familiar round holders with cleaning cloths are installed behind the turbo brush. The left cleaning cloth extends to the edge for cleaning the floor right up to the baseboard. A very cool solution!

I'll add that the cloth not only presses against the baseboard when cleaning, but also rolls into the corner, which improves the quality of cleaning in the corners.

The wipers also automatically lift when entering carpets, during dry cleaning, and when returning to the station. The wipers lift to a height of 7 mm.

Lifting the napkin

As for the station, the Xiaomi Mijia M30S self-cleans, automatically refills the robot's water tank, washes the wipes with hot water, and dries the wipes with warm air after cleaning.

The station doesn't have a detergent compartment. You'll have to add it manually to the clean water tank as needed. However, the module for connecting to the sewer and water supply has a 900 ml compartment for detergent, which will automatically be mixed into the water when washing the cloths. That's a plus!

Overall, I think the new Xiaomi Mijia M30S is still a better design than the Xiaomi Mijia M30 Pro. It now features a wall sensor, a baseboard wiper, and a super-powerful turbo brush with built-in blades.

Interesting! The Pro has its advantages, but it's important to note that these robots actually have little in common. According to one of my subscribers, they are actually manufactured in different factories: the M30 Pro at the ijai factory, and the M30S at the Dreame factory. This is clearly noticeable in the latter case. The new M30S has the same turbo brush, dust collector, HEPA filter, and other components as the Dreame robots.

Technical specifications

The main characteristics of the Xiaomi Mijia M30S, as stated by the manufacturer, are displayed on the screen:

Functional capabilities

Regarding controls, the robot vacuum cleaner is designed for the Chinese market and therefore connects to Mi Home via the China region. Part of the interface is in English, which isn't ideal. The app's response isn't lightning fast due to it being connected to Chinese servers, but it's also not too slow, so it's tolerable.

Testing

A detailed video review of the Xiaomi Mijia M30S, including all tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel:

Navigation

Finally, let's move on to the tests. First, we'll test the Xiaomi Mijia M30S's navigation in a room with obstacles. The robot vacuum first moves around the perimeter of the room, then cleans the entire accessible area in a serpentine pattern. It moved over the dryer's legs without issue, slightly displacing the dryer itself. It also swept around the box and chair legs separately, then returned to the station. The test was successful.

Navigating an Obstacle Room

Speaking of navigation within the house, the robot vacuum cleaner cleans room by room, following the perimeter, then in a serpentine pattern. Every 15 square meters, as I determined, it returns to the station and washes the cleaning pads, then resumes cleaning from where it left off. Ultimately, the apartment was cleaned with two intermediate trips to the station. There were no uncleaned areas, and this model's navigation is as good as its predecessor's.

Identifying objects on the floor

Regarding the object avoidance system, in good lighting, the robot was able to identify and accurately avoid four of six objects on the floor. It also ran over a simulated pet surprise and chewed the charger cord.

So, the system isn't perfect and requires some refinement, but the robot nonetheless cleans more thoroughly than its peers without any system at all. It's also worth noting that the Xiaomi Mijia M30S doesn't recognize objects on the floor, but only detects them. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Mijia M30 Pro is equipped with an object recognition system.

Suction power

The suction power is excellent. The robot was able to clean debris from a 10 mm deep gap, so it can confidently be called powerful. By comparison, the previously released Xiaomi Mijia M30 Pro only managed to clean a 2 mm gap.

Dry cleaning

The collection performance of various types of debris on laminate floors is good. Only a small amount of debris remains in corners, where round robotic vacuums are unable to sweep. It's also important to note that the central brush picked up only a minimal amount of hair and lint. This is because the runtime was limited with a large amount of debris, so the brush simply didn't have time to clean itself.

Dry cleaning

In everyday use, the brush doesn't actually tangle up pet hair or fur, cutting through them. I checked the brush several times after a full cleaning cycle. It was truly completely clean. Therefore, if you're looking for a robot vacuum cleaner for pet hair and fur, be sure to consider the Xiaomi Mijia M30S.

Carpet cleaning

The same debris was scattered on a low-pile carpet. And I can say the robot cleaned the carpet thoroughly.

Xiaomi Mijia M30S: Carpet cleaningXiaomi Mijia M30S: Carpet cleaning

Carpet cleaning

However, there are issues with cleaning medium-pile carpets. Even with the object detection system disabled, the robot still identifies the pile as an obstacle, causing it to drive in circles and avoid areas of the carpet. The areas where it passed cleaned, but in any case, the test couldn't be counted.

Wet cleaning and carpets

Regarding wet cleaning in the presence of carpets, there's a caveat. Since the robot lacks a carpet detection sensor, it can't automatically detect carpeted areas. You must manually define them on the map. After that, you'll be prompted to choose one of two interaction modes.

Xiaomi Mijia M30S: Wet Cleaning and CarpetsXiaomi Mijia M30S: Wet Cleaning and Carpets

Wet cleaning and carpets

It can carefully navigate carpets in wet cleaning mode or clean carpets in wet cleaning mode, automatically lifting the cleaning pads when it enters carpets. This is the most optimal cleaning option.

Self-cleaning

Immediately after the "dirty tests," I checked how well the robot vacuum cleaner self-cleans. Before returning to the station, the dust bin was completely full of dirt. After the self-cleaning test, the dust bin was completely empty, so this robot's self-cleaning is excellent! The results are excellent.

Self-cleaning

Wiping off dirt

This robot vacuum cleaner handles dirt removal with an intermediate stop at the cleaning station to wash the cleaning cloths. This is the main advantage of such robots. Dirt won't be ground into the floor during the entire cleaning process. Consequently, in just a few passes, the robot can actually clean the floor, rather than just mop it.

I would like to point out that there is no blind spot near walls and furniture, thanks to the screen extending to the edge of the case.

Removing difficult stains

When it came to scrubbing tough stains, the robot even managed to remove dried-on coffee and sauce stains. Granted, it didn't do it on the first try. It took the twelfth, to be precise. But it was still up to the task. Many similar and predecessors in the line couldn't even achieve this level of performance.

Washing quality of napkins

Now, I'd like to talk about the effectiveness of the station itself. Let's start with the quality of the wipes' washing. Even after extensive testing, the wipes look significantly better after washing with the station.

In a domestic setting, after washing the floor, the wipes are thoroughly rinsed at the station. A minimal amount of dirt is removed under the pressure of warm water. This is a plus.

The quality of washing napkins in domestic conditions

The station itself is very easy to clean. It has a self-cleaning function activated by a button on the station, but it's best to periodically remove the tray and drain and rinse them in the sink.

Obstacle clearance

The robot vacuum easily navigates 2 cm high thresholds, lifting up the cleaning cloths as it goes. That's a plus!

Driving on black surfaces

It's also not afraid of black surfaces, easily driving on completely black carpet. This is another advantage of the robot!

Noise level

As for the noise level, it ranges from 54 to 72 dB. The noise level is quite standard for this model, considering its high suction power.

Pros and cons

The Xiaomi Mijia M30S robot vacuum cleaner has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. our evaluation system he managed to gain 183 points, surpassing the previous flagship Xiaomi Mijia M30 Pro by 13 points. The result is good, but the robot still couldn't get into the top 10. overall ranking of tested robotsThis is all due to a number of comments that influenced my rating. I'll highlight the robot's pros and cons, and then share my opinion.

I liked the following:

  1. The most important thing is the optimal price, taking into account the possibilities.
  2. The turbo brush self-cleans with built-in blades and doesn't get tangled with hair or fur. There's no need to clean it manually.
  3. Very high suction power, both in figures and in real tests.
  4. It can clean areas close to baseboards and more effectively in corners, thanks to a retractable holder with a cloth.
  5. The All-in-One station, where the robot vacuum cleaner self-cleans its dust bin, washes cloths with hot water, dries with warm air, and even automatically mixes detergent when the module is installed for connection to the sewer and water supply, is highly effective in all its functions, including self-cleaning, washing, and drying.
  6. Convenient maintenance of the robot and station.
  7. High-quality dry and wet cleaning on hard surfaces and low-pile carpets.
  8. The robot vacuum cleaner is capable of removing even difficult stains.
  9. Touch objects and furniture more accurately thanks to the object detection system.
  10. Automatic lifting of the wipes is provided when entering carpets, when returning to the station and during dry cleaning.
  11. A large number of functions in the application.
  12. Good cross-country ability.
  13. Spacious tanks at the station.
  14. The robot vacuum cleaner is not afraid of black floor coverings.

Speaking about the disadvantages, there are the following comments about the robot:

  1. The robot vacuum cleaner is designed for the Chinese market. It doesn't speak Russian, and the app interface isn't fully translated. Furthermore, it lacks full service and warranty support from the manufacturer.
  2. The system for identifying objects requires improvement.
  3. There are issues cleaning medium-pile carpets. The robot avoids certain areas of the carpet, detecting the pile as an obstacle.
  4. The robot vacuum cleaner does not sweep out debris in the corners.
  5. There is no carpet sensor, which is why you need to manually set carpet zones on the map.
  6. There is no automatic detergent supply in the standard station configuration.

Ultimately, I can say that, in my opinion, the Xiaomi Mijia M30S is the best robot vacuum cleaner in the Xiaomi family at the time of writing. Even compared to the Pro version, the M30S is more powerful, cleans better along baseboards, and is still assembled using Dreame technology, so it should be more reliable than its predecessors. And the brush and blades are a more durable solution than the rotating blades in the station. It's true that it's inferior to the Pro in terms of object detection. But that's a matter of personal preference.

On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!
