Lydsto W1: a dual-flow upright vacuum cleaner

The Lydsto W1 upright wet/dry vacuum cleaner, priced at $300, boasts a number of advanced design features. These include a roller positioned at the edge of the unit, a dryer station for the roller, an automatic power boost mode, and even a manual spray function in front of the roller via a special nozzle. Overall, this wet/dry vacuum cleaner is clearly on par with most similar products. Below, I'll thoroughly test the Lydsto W1, highlight its pros and cons, and then express my opinion on whether it's worth buying. So, let's get started!
Equipment
The vacuum cleaner arrived in a branded box like this:
The package includes:
- Base with holders for accessories.
- Power adapter.
- Vacuum cleaner cleaning brush.
- Operating instructions.
The kit is minimal. No additional accessories or spare parts are included.
Appearance
Let's take a look at the Lydsto W1's design. Let's start with the cleaning module. It's a single roller with soft bristles, offset to the right, toward the edge of the housing. The roller doesn't extend all the way to the edge; there's a locking mechanism behind it. However, the width of the so-called blind spot has been reduced.
The top lid is removable. Interestingly, there is a water spray nozzle on top of the lid, just like Jimmy HW10 Pro And Roidmi NEO, reviews of which were previously published on the channel. Water is supplied automatically to the roller under the lid, but you can also spray water manually to, for example, dissolve stains or increase floor wetting.
The roller is removed from the side. A squeegee is located behind the roller to collect residual water from the floor, as well as a suction port.
Above the cleaning module is an 800 ml dirty water tank. It contains a HEPA filter with a mesh screen. The dirty water level detection system, using optical sensors, is ingeniously implemented. A coarse filter is also located inside the tank.
On the opposite side of the housing is a 750 ml clean water tank. The tank houses a water sterilization system. According to the manufacturer, the sterilization principle is based on the electrolysis of salt membranes.
A large, informative display on the top of the body shows the battery charge, the selected operating mode, and service messages. Three operating modes are available: Smart Mode, in which the Lydsto W1 automatically increases suction power when it detects dirt; Liquid Suction Mode, which sucks up liquid without adding water; and Water Sterilization Mode.
Next to the display are buttons for voice alerts and self-cleaning. This upright vacuum cleaner is voice-activated, but the voice alerts are in English.
The handle contains three mechanical control buttons: power on/off, switching operating modes, and forced water supply through the nozzle.
Speaking of the base, the Xiaomi Lydsto W1 automatically charges, cleans itself, and dries with its roller.
Drying occurs with room-temperature air. Unfortunately, there's no heating option. At least excess moisture will be removed, reducing the risk of odor and bacteria growth. The roller will dry naturally at room temperature.
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of Lydsto W1, as declared by the manufacturer:
- Battery: Li-Ion, 4000 mAh.
- Power: 250 W.
- Suction power: up to 17,000 Pa.
- Working time: up to 40 min.
- Charging time: up to 4 hours.
- Noise level: 70.5-72 dB.
- Clean water tank: 750 ml.
- Dirty water tank: 800 ml.
- Weight: 4.5 kg.
This model boasts improved specifications. It features a higher-capacity battery, a longer runtime, and higher power than most similar models. I'd especially like to highlight the increased capacity of the water tanks. It's worth noting that the noise level, measured personally, is between 70.5 and 72 dB, which is quite quiet compared to similar models.
Testing
And finally, let's move on to the tests. A detailed video review of the Lydsto W1, including all the tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel:
The Lydsto W1 performs well for everyday floor cleaning, both on laminate and tile. It doesn't leave streaks and, when used correctly, won't damage delicate flooring.
This device can be used not only for cleaning floors but also for vacuuming liquids. And, as in my case, the vacuum even passed the now-traditional test of picking up a mixture of raw egg and flour. It took a while to suck up the eggshell, but it finally managed to suck it into the dirty water tank.
The Lydsto W1 can also be used to clean slightly dried-on dirt. As you can see, there are no marks or streaks left. The floor is perfectly clean.
The only caveat is that the roller doesn't extend all the way to the edge of the cabinet, leaving a very narrow, unwashed strip along the baseboard. To be precise, it's 6 mm wide. Most similar products have a width of 15-20 mm.
This vacuum cleaner even removed tough, dried-on coffee and sauce stains. As with similar products, it took some time to remove the sauce stains—about 6 minutes in my case. I didn't use any detergent, as the manufacturer doesn't offer one. Even with plain clean water, the Lydsto W1 performed just as well as its competitors. It's very convenient that you can spray tough stains with water first, then let them soak for a bit while rinsing other areas. This makes them much easier to remove.
The Lydsto W1 can also be used for dry cleaning. It easily picks up various types of debris from the floor. There's minimal blind spot in corners where the roller can't reach. However, it effectively captures debris along baseboards thanks to the roller positioned at the edge.
Even though the kit doesn't include a dedicated carpet roller, you can still superficially clean your carpet with the fluffy roller. Just don't fill the tank with water or select the liquid suction mode to prevent water from reaching the roller. However, the vacuum cleaner won't clean medium-pile carpets well. However, debris can clog the suction hole and block the brush, which is what happened during testing, as the suction system doesn't work properly without water. Overall, I recommend cleaning carpets with a regular upright vacuum cleaner, or entrusting this task to a robotic vacuum cleaner of a suitable design and power.
Finally, we check the self-cleaning function. The lid isn't clean, but the rollerball is clean. There's minimal dirt underneath, but that's not the case with most similar models. So, I think this model's self-cleaning function is working properly.
Under normal household conditions, with simple dirt, the vacuum cleaner cleans itself well and does not require manual intervention.
Personal opinion
The Lydsto W1 upright vacuum cleaner was thoroughly reviewed and tested. I'll share my personal opinion on this device. I liked the following:
- Suitable not only for washing floors, but also for collecting liquids and dry cleaning.
- High-quality floor cleaning and removal of stains, even difficult ones.
- The roller comes out closer to the edge of the body (although it does not completely press against the baseboard, the non-washable zone has become narrower).
- Function of spraying liquid in front of the cleaning module.
- High-capacity battery, and therefore long operating time.
- Increased capacity of tanks for clean and dirty water.
- Automatic power increase when contamination is detected.
- Sterilization of clean water in the tank.
- Automatic drying of the roller is provided at the station.
- Low noise level.
- Ergonomic design.
- Availability of warranty and service.
Speaking about the shortcomings, the following were found:
- Full drying of the roller with hot air is not provided.
- There's still a narrow, non-washable zone along the baseboard, though it's smaller than many similar products.
- Not suitable for cleaning carpets.
- Non-removable battery.
Overall, the device is interesting and left a mostly positive impression. The criticisms I've made apply to most similar devices, as they're typical for this type of device. The main things I liked were the offset roller, the dryer, and the spray nozzle in front of the cleaning module. For those interested in the Lydsto W1, I don't see any serious issues that would deter them from purchasing it. It's very similar to the Roidmi NEO, which I also recommended after testing, but it's also slightly cheaper and more powerful.
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye!
