Dreame Z10 Station: Upright vacuum cleaner with self-cleaning dust bin

This review examines the new Dreame Z10 Station upright vacuum cleaner, whose main feature is its self-cleaning dust bin. The self-cleaning dust bin simplifies cleaning and eliminates contact with debris, which is especially important for allergy sufferers. Below, I'll show you how the Dreame Z10 Station works, how it performs, and whether it's worth buying. The price at the time of writing is between $450-500, or $500-550 at the current exchange rate. I'd be grateful if you'd appreciate my efforts by subscribing and liking after watching the video. So, let's get started!
Equipment
The vacuum cleaner arrived in a branded box like this:
The package includes:
- Main block.
- Charging and self-cleaning station for vacuum cleaner.
- Extension tube.
- Floor stand for additional attachments.
- Crevice nozzle.
- Soft bristle attachment.
- Nozzle with turbo brush for cleaning upholstered furniture and mattresses.
- Floor nozzle with roller for cleaning carpets.
- Floor nozzle with roller for hard floors.
- Spare bag for the station.
- Operating instructions.
The package is good. It has all the attachments and accessories for cleaning. That's a plus!
Appearance
Now let's take a look at the Dreame Z10 Station's design. Let's start with the main unit.
The vacuum cleaner is turned on and off by pressing the trigger. On the end is an informative display and two control buttons: a power lock and a power adjustment. All three modes are available: Standard, Eco, and Turbo. The removable battery is a plus!
The dust container is also removable, making it easy to clean. The container features a self-cleaning curtain. The dust container itself holds approximately 500 ml. The filtration system consists of a fabric filter, a cyclone with a mesh, and a pre-motor HEPA filter, which is installed within the vacuum cleaner body.
Let's take a look at the included attachments. Here's what the floor nozzle with a fluffy roller looks like:
The roller is easily removed without the need for additional tools. Combs are located behind the roller to remove hair and pet hair. The roller itself extends out to the front of the housing, so it will more thoroughly pick up debris along walls and in corners.
The second floor nozzle features a roller with elastic bristles. This design is more versatile, as it's suitable for cleaning both carpets and hard floors.
The front of the unit is illuminated to highlight the cleaning area. I agree with users that it would have been more logical to install this light in the fluffy roller attachment. The solution is unclear.
The upholstery and mattress cleaning attachment features a turbo brush with silicone paddles. To remove the turbo brush, simply release the side latch with a coin or flat-head screwdriver. Interestingly, even this attachment is equipped with a light. The other two attachments are standard and suitable for spot cleaning.
Now let's look at the included station. It charges the Dreame Z10 Station and self-cleans it. A fairly large dust bag is located behind the removable side panel. Underneath it is a filter that needs to be washed periodically. Interestingly, the station also has a HEPA filter at the bottom. This is a great feature, as it will clean the air coming out of the station. Again, this is important for allergy sufferers.
The only thing I didn't like about the station was that, given its large size, the engineers didn't come up with a storage solution for all the included attachments. A floor-mounted holder for three attachments was an alternative, but there's no way to store the second floor attachment anyway. It's not very convenient.
In terms of build quality, ergonomics, and design, the Dreame Z10 Station is on par with other premium vacuum cleaners in the Dreame line. Everything is top-notch!
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of the Dreame Z10 Station, as stated by the manufacturer:
- The power consumption of the vacuum cleaner is 481 W.
- The station's power consumption is 1050 W.
- Suction power up to 150 aW.
- Li-Ion battery 2900 mAh.
- Dust collector 500 ml.
- Bag in the station: 2.5 l.
- Operating time up to 65 min.
- The noise level of the vacuum cleaner is 70-76 dB.
- The station noise level is 75 dB.
- Weight when fully assembled: 2.76 kg.
Speaking of specifications, surprisingly, the suction power isn't the highest in the lineup. For example, the Dreame R20 reaches 190 watts, while the V16s reaches a whopping 210 watts! The maximum runtime is also shorter than its predecessors.
I personally measured the vacuum cleaner's noise level. It's in the 70-76 dB range, and I can say that compared to similar models and previous models in the line, the vacuum cleaner's noise level is low.
I also checked the station's noise level during self-cleaning. It's around 75 dB.
As for weight, the main unit weighs 1,673 grams, the extension tube weighs 286 grams, and the main nozzle weighs 798 grams. The complete vacuum weighs 2,757 grams. This is a fairly standard weight for an upright vacuum. The center of gravity is strategically positioned low, preventing hand fatigue during use.
Testing
A detailed video review of the Dreame Z10 Station, including all tests, is already available on the channel:
Opening hours
And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, we'll check the Dreame Z10 Station's battery life in Turbo mode with the main floor nozzle attached. It managed to run for 10 minutes and 20 seconds, which is quite standard for powerful upright vacuums.
But for comparison, the previously released top vertical Dreame R20 It managed to run for 13 and a half minutes with the same battery capacity and higher suction power. This model's battery life isn't the best in the Dreame line.
Suction power
As for suction power, even in Eco mode, the Dreame Z10 Station was able to easily vacuum debris from a 10mm gap. So, it's certainly a powerful upright vacuum. You might not even need to use Turbo mode.
Collecting debris on laminate flooring
Now let's test how well the Dreame Z10 Station picks up floor debris. I scattered various types of debris on the laminate floor: hair, fur, grains, and other small household debris. This device performed well. It's important to note that it has no trouble picking up debris along baseboards and in corners. It picks everything up thoroughly. No hair or fur gets caught in the roller. Some of the hair is caught by the bristle insert around the roller. However, the bulk of the debris ends up in the dust bin.
Carpet cleaning
The same debris was scattered on the carpet, and the Dreame Z10 Station also performed well, thoroughly cleaning the carpet. This time, the carpet roller attachment was used, and it also didn't pick up any hair or fur. Test passed!
Using additional attachments
It's also worth noting that the complete kit allows you to clean a sofa, areas beyond the reach of the main nozzle, and even car interiors. Overall, this vacuum cleaner is suitable for a variety of applications.
Self-cleaning
Finally, I'll demonstrate the effectiveness of the self-cleaning station. After all the tests, the dust bin is half full. We place the vacuum cleaner on the station and start self-cleaning. It lasts about 12 seconds. We see that the bin is completely empty. I increased the challenge and filled the bin to the maximum, not just with light debris, but with fur and hair. Even a completely full bin empties completely on the station. This vacuum cleaner's self-cleaning is effective!
You can also clean the dust container manually if needed. To do this, detach it from the main unit, remove the filtration system, and simply shake out the debris. Very convenient. If necessary, you can rinse the container and the entire filtration system with water. Just make sure everything is completely dry before replacing it in the vacuum cleaner.
Personal opinion
The Dreame Z10 Station upright vacuum cleaner has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. I'll highlight its pros and cons, then share my personal opinion.
I liked the following:
- Effective self-cleaning station.
- Good filtration system both in the vacuum cleaner and in the station.
- Increased suction power.
- High-quality waste collection on any surface.
- Low noise level.
- Illumination of the cleaning area in the floor and furniture cleaning nozzle.
- Informative display on the body.
- Stylish design.
- Ergonomic design.
- Removable battery.
- Very high quality assembly.
- A complete set of attachments, including two rollers with different structures for different floor coverings.
- Availability of warranty and service.
Speaking of disadvantages, I didn’t like the following:
- Short operating time in Turbo mode.
- There is no automatic power increase function.
- There is no vertical parking outside the station.
- They didn't think through how to store extra attachments at the station. There's no storage space for a second floor nozzle, even on the optional floor holder.
Ultimately, the Dreame Z10 Station has more pros than cons. Some of the criticisms are actually minor. Its appearance is very appealing, its build quality is high, it has all the necessary attachments for a thorough cleaning, and, equally important, its self-cleaning feature is ideal for allergy sufferers and those who want to minimize or completely eliminate contact with debris. Therefore, ultimately, I have no compelling reason not to recommend it. It's definitely one of the best upright vacuums of 2023. However, the Dreame R20 could be a strong competitor if longer runtime and increased suction power are important, and self-cleaning isn't a priority.
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!
