Dreame Bot X30 Pro: turbo brush with blade, improved station, all the advanced features

Dreame Bot X30 ProDreame Bot X30 Pro

The new top-of-the-line Dreame Bot X30 Pro robot vacuum cleaner is the company's flagship product for late 2023. It's priced between $1070-$1200, or $1200-$1350. For this price, the robot boasts a number of advanced design and functional features. Listing its advantages and key features now would take a full-fledged review, so I'll save you time and get straight to the point. I'll examine the Dreame Bot X30 Pro's design, its capabilities, and whether it's worth buying. So, let's get started!

Regionalism

The first thing you should know about the Dreame Bot X30 Pro is that this model is intended for the Chinese market. Therefore, you won't be able to use it outside of China. The app is region-locked.

At the time of writing, it can be bypassed on both iOS and Android smartphones. I chose not to describe the method in detail for the simple reason that brand representatives would not take control of it and, consequently, deprive us of this bypass option.

Equipment

Let's start with the package contents. The Dreame Bot X30 Pro arrived in a box like this:

Appearance

Now let's take a look at the Dreame Bot X30 Pro's design. Let's start with the robot vacuum itself. It's black. The plastic itself is matte and stain-resistant. The body is round and measures approximately 104 mm in height.

The HEPA filter's location has been changed; it's now mounted on top. A mesh screen is installed in front of the HEPA filter, creating a dual filtration system. The dust collector and filter are washable with water. The water tank is hidden inside the robot and is automatically filled at the station. The tank capacity is 80 ml.

The robot is equipped with four fall protection sensors on the bottom. A carpet sensor is located next to the swivel roller. The side brush is a three-beam, quick-release brush.

The central brush unit is floating. The Dreame Bot X30 Pro's turbo brush is another major advantage – it's equipped with blades that cut through hair and fur tangled around the brush. As the turbo brush rotates, it self-cleans and prevents tangling. One side of the brush disassembles, allowing you to remove the bristle inserts for cleaning. Very convenient.

If you wish, you can also install a regular bristle-petal brush or a silicone brush from the L-series, for example, from this robot. Dreame Bot L10s Ultra or Dreame Bot L20/L30 Ultra

The robot is equipped with napkin holders. The holders are equipped with magnets, and the napkins are held in place with Velcro.

I'd like to point out that the Dreame Bot X30 Pro can automatically lift its cleaning pads when it hits carpet. That's a plus.

And here's how the robot's next key feature works—the so-called retractable cleaning cloth holder. The arm extends to the right, allowing the cleaning cloth to extend beyond the robot's body. There's no blind spot between the edge of the robot and the baseboard. A very clever solution, already appreciated in previous top-of-the-line models of the Dreame line!

The station is highly functional. It self-cleans the dust bin, washes the cleaning cloths with hot water, dries them with warm air after cleaning, and even automatically mixes detergent into the water during washing and when refilling the robot's tank.

Dreame Bot X30 Pro: StationDreame Bot X30 Pro: Station

Station

Many people are drawn to the Dreame Bot X30 Pro specifically for its station, compared to the X10/X20 Pro or L20/L30 Ultra. Its design and dimensions have been changed. It's narrower and slightly smaller in height and depth. You can see the difference in size for yourself:

Dreame Bot X30 Pro: Comparison of the X20 and X30 StationsDreame Bot X30 Pro: Comparison of the X20 and X30 Stations

Comparison of X20 and X30 stations

For those interested, the height of the Dreame Bot X30 Pro station with the lid raised is 82.5 cm.

The water tanks are located under the top cover. They are still quite spacious. The dirty water tank holds 4 liters, while the clean water tank holds 4.5 liters. The clean water tank houses a silver-based disinfection module. The detergent reservoir is no longer located under the tanks; it has been moved to a different location.

Conveniently, the robot's ramp and the module with combs for washing the wipes are removable. It's also been updated with scrapers underneath, which clean the bottom of the station during each wipe wash cycle. This simplifies station maintenance. The scraper module itself is not compatible with previous models, in case anyone was wondering. Another new feature of the station is ultraviolet disinfection of wipes after washing and drying. We can see the installed UV lamp, which turns on automatically after the drying cycle. I can't verify the effectiveness of this solution, but I should be able to say.

An important point: the robot's entry platform itself is equipped with magnetized pins. These allow the Dreame Bot X30 Pro to release the cleaning pad holders at the docking station when needed. This allows the robot to exit the docking station for dry cleaning only, without the cleaning pads, completely eliminating any contact between wet cleaning pads and the carpet. A unique and highly effective solution.

The waste bag is located in the center behind the lid. The bag itself is a standard 3.2-liter capacity. Right next to it is the detergent reservoir, which automatically mixes with clean water. This is now a reusable container with a lid, making it much more convenient and cost-effective for refilling detergent. You can order a liter bottle, which is cheaper than two 450 ml cartridges from the X20.

And as a reminder, the station is equipped with fittings for connecting to the sewer and water supply. They are located at the top.

The design of the module has been changed, so the X30 is not compatible with the module from the X20 or L20/L30.

Ultimately, we see a number of minor improvements that have increased the robot's efficiency and autonomy. A D-shaped body would also be great, allowing the robot to fully sweep into corners. I think this will be the next breakthrough in the Dreame line in 2024!

Functional capabilities

Speaking of features, the Dreame Bot X30 Pro is controlled via the Dreamehome app. I mentioned regional compatibility at the beginning of the review. I'll just note that the app itself is in Russian, and the interface has been slightly updated, making everything even more user-friendly and intuitive. However, the robot only speaks Chinese. This is important to keep in mind.

Dreame Bot X30 Pro: FeaturesDreame Bot X30 Pro: Features

Functions

A wide range of options are available for flexible cleaning settings. It's worth noting that the proprietary voice assistant only understands commands in Chinese, unfortunately. New features include the ability to wash the cleaning cloths not only after each cleaned area and after a specific area, but also after a specified time period, ranging from 10 to 50 minutes in 5-minute increments. A new mode has also been added for improved cleaning under furniture, doors, and other objects with a small gap. The robot not only extends the cleaning cloth to the right, but also rotates the body to allow it to reach deeper into the gap. A great solution, and progress is evident in the details!

I'll also demonstrate the remote home monitoring feature via smartphone. Entering a password you choose activates the camera, which transmits a live image to your smartphone screen. The image quality is high. You can either control the robot manually or specify a location on the map where you want it to go automatically. You can also take photos, which will be saved in a separate folder, and send voice messages through the robot's speaker. Another useful feature is to direct the robot to a specific location, where it will rotate in place and automatically take photos of the room from all sides. This is called guard mode. Very convenient. The only issue is that the image streaming is a bit slow, because the Dreame Bot X30 Pro operates through Chinese servers. It's not critical, but the difference compared to global robots is noticeable.

New experimental features have also been added. For example, a mode that automatically increases power when debris is detected is being tested. However, this mode isn't working yet; at least in my case, power didn't increase when driving through debris.

Testing

A detailed video review of the Dreame Bot X30 Pro, including all tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel:

Navigation

And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, we'll test the Dreame Bot X30 Pro's navigation in a room with obstacles. The robot vacuum first moves around the perimeter of the room, then cleans the entire accessible area in a serpentine pattern. It detected the legs of the dryer and carefully navigated around them. It also swept around the box and chair legs separately, before returning to the station. The test was successful.

Navigating an Obstacle Room

Speaking of navigation within the house, the robot vacuum cleaner cleans room by room, following the perimeter, then in a serpentine pattern. After every 15 square meters of cleaning, as I've determined, it returns to the station and washes its cleaning pads, then resumes cleaning from where it left off. There are no uncleaned areas left; this model has excellent navigation!

Object recognition

Speaking of the floor object recognition system, it's very accurate. The robot vacuum cleaner successfully recognized 6 out of 6 objects. Excellent results.

Dreame Bot X30 Pro: Object recognition in good lighting conditionsDreame Bot X30 Pro: Object recognition in good lighting conditions

Recognizing objects in good lighting conditions

The robot vacuum cleaner performed worse when recognizing objects in complete darkness. It touched four out of six objects, and even correctly identified some of them and marked them with corresponding icons on the map. It's likely that a firmware update will improve the robot's object recognition, as this is a new model, and even a previous one. Dreame Bot X20 Pro Plus did better on this test.

Therefore, compared to similar systems, Dreame has one of the most accurate object recognition systems, but it's still not perfect. In any case, the robot vacuum cleaner very carefully avoids objects and barely touches furniture, but Dreame's engineers still have some room for improvement!

Suction power

The suction power was impressive. The Dreame Bot X30 Pro easily sucked up debris from even a 10mm gap. This is definitely a very powerful robot vacuum. And, based on my observations, it actually became even more powerful than the X20 because it cleaned the crevices better. It cleaned almost the entire length of the gaps, not just parts of them.

Dry cleaning and turbo brush test

The collection quality of various types of debris on laminate floors is good. It only leaves a small amount of debris in corners, where round robot vacuums can't reach. However, even in corners, it cleaned slightly better than most other round robot vacuums.

Dreame Bot X30 Pro: Dry CleaningDreame Bot X30 Pro: Dry Cleaning

Dry cleaning

The central brush didn't catch any hair or fur; it was all collected in the dust bin. So the new turbo brush with blades is definitely better than the silicone one, and especially the regular bristle-and-petal one!

Dreame Bot X30 Pro: Central Brush ConditionDreame Bot X30 Pro: Central Brush Condition

Condition of the central brush

In normal household conditions, I even checked the condition of the brush several times after a full cleaning cycle. It really is completely clean. So, if you're choosing a robot vacuum cleaner for pet hair, be sure to consider this one, or the turbo brush itself, which can be retrofitted to previous Dreame robots!

Carpet cleaning

The Dreame Bot X30 Pro does a great job of cleaning carpets. It cleans carpets very well, thanks to its high power, floating turbo brush module, and bristle inserts in the turbo brush!

Dreame Bot X30 Pro: Carpet CleaningDreame Bot X30 Pro: Carpet Cleaning

Carpet cleaning

Wet cleaning and carpets

When it comes to wet cleaning on carpeted floors, there are several robot behavior options. The first is to automatically lift the cleaning cloths when entering carpets, allowing the robot vacuum cleaner to simultaneously vacuum and mop the floor, leaving the carpets dry and clean.

Dreame Bot X30 Pro: Wet Cleaning and CarpetsDreame Bot X30 Pro: Wet Cleaning and Carpets

Wet cleaning and carpets

The second option is to enable the automatic carpet avoidance feature in wet cleaning mode. And the third mode is unique. The robot vacuum first performs dry and wet cleaning of hard floors, then returns to the base, automatically detaches the cleaning pads, and returns to the cleaning process, having vacuumed the carpets without the pads. This is especially useful for high- and medium-pile carpets, as it completely eliminates any contact between the pad and the carpet if necessary.

The idea is very cool. Not only does it completely eliminate contact between wet wipes and carpets, but it's also a more reliable solution than simply lifting the wipes on carpets. A so-called lift can wear out faster if used frequently.

Wiping off dirt

This robot vacuum cleaner does a great job of removing dirt. And you can see that the Dreame Bot X30 Pro's retractable cleaning cloth thoroughly cleans dirt right up to the baseboard. There's still a blind spot, but that's just the corners, where the round cleaning cloth can't reach. Nevertheless, this is the best performance to date!

Dreame Bot X30 Pro: Dirt RemovalDreame Bot X30 Pro: Dirt Removal

Wiping off dirt

Another important point: the Dreame Bot X30 Pro has an updated mopping mode for cleaning floors along baseboards and in corners. Now, when it enters corners, it backs up, effectively cleaning the floor in the corners as thoroughly as possible. A truly brilliant solution that deserves special mentions and special mentions!

In any case, when it comes to wet cleaning performance in a domestic environment, this is the best result to date! No streaks or dirt marks remain; the test was passed!

Removing difficult stains

However, the Dreame Bot X30 Pro failed to remove difficult stains, just like the X20 Pro, L30, and other robots in the Dreame line. It was able to remove coffee stains, but difficult, dried-on sauce stains proved beyond its capabilities.

Dreame Bot X30 Pro: Tough stain removalDreame Bot X30 Pro: Tough stain removal

Removing difficult stains

The dirt removal performance is inferior to some premium competitors. However, for everyday use, I believe the wet cleaning function is more than sufficient. However, Dreame's engineers still have some work to do in future flagship models.

Washing quality of napkins

Now I'd like to test the effectiveness of the station itself. Let's start with the cleaning performance of the wipes. In everyday use, after cleaning the floor of dirt, the wipes are in a terrible state. And after washing the wipes, I can say they are actually clean. A minimal amount of dirt is removed under the pressure of warm water. That's a plus!

Dreame Bot X30 Pro: Wipes Washing QualityDreame Bot X30 Pro: Wipes Washing Quality

Washing quality of napkins

But tough stains don't wash out very well on the wipes. Then again, such tough stains are only easily removed by a washing machine with detergent. So, I think the heated water feature is a better solution, as it slightly, but still improves the cleaning performance of the wipes.

Cleaning the station itself is easy if you activate the station cleaning function in the app. The robot rolls off the platform, and you need to immediately remove the comb module, as water starts to fill the tray. When the tray is full, take the brush and clean the bottom. Incidentally, it's not that dirty, thanks to the scrapers that clean the bottom when washing the wipes. We also remove the ramp for the robot to enter. We rinse everything with water in the sink and return it. The station is clean! In principle, everything is convenient, but let's say for me it's more convenient when the entire tray and bottom can be removed for rinsing in the sink. How is this implemented in Dreame Bot W10 Pro.

Self-cleaning quality

The self-cleaning performance of the dust bin is good. I ran the robot vacuum in a room with a lot of debris. It cleaned everything up, and we saw that the dust bin was completely full. We returned the robot vacuum to the docking station and saw that the dust bin was almost clean after self-cleaning. One clump of hair stuck to the curtain, but that was probably an isolated incident.

Obstacle clearance

The Dreame Bot X30 Pro easily navigates 2 cm high thresholds, lifting up napkins in the process. That's a plus!

It's also not afraid of black surfaces, easily driving on completely black carpet. This is another advantage of the robot!

Noise level

As for the noise level, it ranges from 57 to 73 dB. This is quite standard for this model, considering its high suction power.

Connection to sewerage and water supply

Finally, I'll show you how the automatic drain and fill system works when a special module is connected. I installed a more accurate plumbing system: I installed a surface-mounted outlet next to the station, which I simply glued to the wall tile, and also hid the hoses in the baseboard, one of which is connected to the water supply via the included pass-through elbow, and the other is connected to the trap under the sink. So, I didn't initially plan for the station during the renovation, but that didn't stop me from doing everything neatly once the renovation was complete. You can take this idea into consideration.

Connection to sewerage and water supply

Activate the self-cleaning function and voila – water fills the clean water tank and, after washing the wipes, drains down the drain. Keep the lid closed, as the system requires a vacuum, so keep this in mind.

Personal opinion

The Dreame Bot X30 Pro Plus has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. According to our rating system, it scored 218 pointsand enter the TOP-3 overall ranking of tested robotic vacuum cleaners, surpassing its predecessor, the Dreame Bot X20 Pro Plus. Keep in mind that I deducted a full 10 points for regional issues, as well as points for the proprietary assistant, the lack of Russian voice notifications, and official distributors on the market. Accordingly, the global version's score will be even higher, and predictably even higher than the current global flagship. Dreame Bot L30 Ultra.

I'll highlight the pros and cons, then share my personal opinion of the robot. I liked the following:

  1. Maximum wet cleaning efficiency. This feature features a retractable cleaning pad that allows the robot to thoroughly clean areas along baseboards and furniture. Moreover, thanks to updated algorithms, the pad is better able to clean corners and narrow spaces under furniture.
  2. A fully charged Dreame Bot X30 Pro station, by 2023 standards, self-cleans the dust bin, washes the cloths with hot water, dries with warm air, and even automatically mixes detergent and disinfects the cloths with a UV lamp. The station is highly effective in all its functions, including self-cleaning, washing, and drying. The station's dimensions have also been reduced, which is especially important for those who appreciate it.
  3. An optional utility module is available. The robot vacuum cleaner connects to both sewer and water lines, increasing its efficiency.
  4. The turbo brush self-cleans with a built-in blade and doesn't get tangled with hair or fur. There's no need to clean it manually.
  5. The presence of a floor recognition system allows the robot to clean more accurately and is less likely to chew on a cord, sock, or other household item.
  6. Remote home monitoring by connecting to the robot's camera via a smartphone.
  7. Automatic removal of napkin holders at the station for complete dry cleaning.
  8. Increased capacity of water tanks at the station.
  9. Ultimate mode, thanks to which the robot independently selects the cleaning algorithm.
  10. High-quality dry and wet cleaning on any surface.
  11. Automatic lifting of napkins when driving onto carpets.
  12. Convenient maintenance of the robot and station.
  13. A large number of functions for flexible adjustment of cleaning parameters.
  14. Good cross-country ability.
  15. The robot vacuum cleaner is not afraid of black floor coverings.
  16. Stylish design.
  17. High-quality assembly and high brand authority.

There are also some disadvantages, the main ones being:

  1. The robot vacuum cleaner is designed for the Chinese market, and therefore has a regional lock that must be bypassed.
  2. Full service and warranty support from the manufacturers are not provided. Again, this is because this version is for the Chinese market.
  3. The built-in voice assistant only understands phrases in Chinese.
  4. There is no option to set the Russian language for voice notifications.
  5. Image transmission is delayed due to work through Chinese servers.
  6. Doesn't completely sweep out debris in the corners.
  7. Not capable of removing difficult stains.
  8. The object recognition system requires some improvement.

Ultimately, I can say that at the time of writing, in early December 2023, the Dreame Bot X30 Pro is one of the best robot vacuum cleaners in terms of functionality, efficiency, and wet mopping capabilities. Its only competitors are its global L-series siblings, namely the Dreame Bot L20 Ultra and Dreame Bot L30 Ultra. And here's the most pressing question for many: which one should you choose? The top-of-the-line Dreame Bot X30 Ultra or the flagship Chinese version, the X30 Pro?

I can say that the X30 Pro has received several small but important improvements. These include a new turbo brush with a blade, a more compact station, a function for cleaning floors under furniture, a UV lamp in the station, higher power, and a more convenient detergent tank refill. Each of these updates gradually increases the robot's battery life, efficiency, and ease of use. So, objectively speaking, yes, the X30 Pro is slightly better than the L30 Ultra in design and features. But for many, the upgrade may not be that significant, given the L30's warranty, service, Russian language support out of the box, and a proprietary voice assistant. Others, on the contrary, will find the new improvements significant for their own needs. For me personally, the global version is more important, and accordingly, the L30 Ultra remains the leader in the overall ranking at the end of 2023. However, I've kept the X20 Pro since my review and will be waiting for a more significant breakthrough from Dreame. I'll probably just buy a new turbo brush since it's compatible. But whatever you choose: the X20 Pro, X30 Pro, L20 Ultra, or L30 Ultra, these are definitely the best robot vacuums of 2023, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.

On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!

    Hello!

Please tell me how to eliminate the smell in a container with dirty water?
Maybe something can be added there?)
Also, should I add the cleaning agent to the dispenser as is or should I dilute it with water?

    Thank you!

    • Admin

As for how to eliminate the smell, the only way is to change it more often. Chemicals are unlikely to help eliminate the smell. As for the cleaning agent, the concentrate is poured into the tank.
