Liectroux YW509: An affordable robot window cleaner with dual water spray

Liectroux YW509Liectroux YW509

This review examines the Liectroux YW509 robotic window cleaner. Priced between $110 and $140, it falls into the budget-to-mid-range segment for this type of household appliance. Its key feature is its dual-sided spray arms, which deliver water to the surface as the robot moves in either direction, increasing window cleaning efficiency. Below, I'll thoroughly test the Liectroux YW509, highlight its pros and cons, and then express my opinion on whether it's worth buying. Let's get started!

Equipment

The window cleaning robot arrived in this branded box:

The package includes:

  1. The safety cord that is already installed on the robot.
  2. Electrical extension cord.
  3. Power unit.
  4. Power adapter for connection to the network.
  5. Remote control without batteries.
  6. A bottle for spraying liquid onto wipes.
  7. Bottle for pouring liquid into the robot's tanks.
  8. One spare napkin.
  9. Operating instructions translated into Russian.

The package is standard. Personally, I miss the extra cleaning cloths included. Two is too few, perhaps only enough for cleaning one window. Therefore, I recommend purchasing an extra set of cleaning cloths along with the robot.

Appearance

Now let's take a look at the Liectroux YW509's design. It's square and comes in white. Water tanks with a capacity of 100 ml are located on both sides. A handle is located on top for easy installation and removal of the robot. The height of the body is 104 mm.

The handle features the company logo and a mechanical control button for turning the power on and off. Next to each tank are atomizers—ultrasonic, according to the manufacturer. The tanks are equipped with sealed lids.

Sensors for detecting the edges of the work surface are located at the bottom corners of the robot. The robot moves on tracks. Between them is a ventilation hole for the main motor, which holds the cleaning robot to the window. The cleaning cloth is attached with Velcro, a fairly standard design.

Testing

A detailed video review of the Liectroux YW509, including all tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel:

And finally, let's move on to the tests. We'll simultaneously check the Liectroux YW509's navigation and window cleaning performance. It navigates large windows measuring 150 x 90 cm well, leaving no uncleaned areas. It occasionally freezes for a couple of seconds when touching the frames, but then continues cleaning. Here's a before and after look.

Only the corners remain unwashed due to the robot's design, or more precisely, the sensors located at the corners. But this is a problem with absolutely all square robots. Round robots also fail to clean corners because the round cloth doesn't fit snugly into the corner.

As for the water spray, a small portion is blown away in windy weather, but the bulk of the liquid still hits the surface in front of the wipe.

And here is the condition of the napkin after washing the window:

As you can see, the robot really cleans windows effectively.

The robot is capable of navigating narrow windows. Many stores list a minimum window size of 45 cm. In my case, the window was 38 cm wide, and the robot navigated it without any problems, leaving no missed areas.

The Liectroux YW509 can also be used to clean any other hard vertical surfaces, such as tiled walls, shower stalls, and even mirrors. Note that the robot can clean frameless surfaces by gently moving away from the edge.

But it can't clean horizontal surfaces. It starts spinning in one place.

Finally, I'll demonstrate how it works in emergency mode. If the power is disconnected, the Liectroux YW509 goes into emergency mode, starts emitting voice messages in English, and the indicators on both sides of the case flash red.

This will allow the robot to be removed from the window in a timely manner.

Personal opinion

The Liectroux YW509 window cleaning robot was thoroughly reviewed and tested. I'll highlight its pros and cons, then share my personal opinion. I liked the following:

  1. Automatic double spray of water onto the surface.
  2. The double-pass function is not available in all robots.
  3. Good navigation.
  4. The robot is capable of cleaning light dirt and effectively collects dust from windows.
  5. Increased capacity of water tanks.
  6. Possibility of washing frameless windows.
  7. Work on small windows.
  8. The robot's versatility. It's suitable for cleaning not only windows, but also glass doors, mirrors, and wall tiles.
  9. Optimal price, especially during sales periods.

Speaking of disadvantages, they are the same as other window cleaning robots:

  1. Doesn't wash the windows in the corners.
  2. Does not work on horizontal surfaces.
  3. In windy weather, the washing liquid supply system is not as effective, as part of the sprayed liquid is blown away by a gust of wind.
  4. Only one spare napkin included.

Overall, the robot does its primary job well. It's certainly no worse than similar products, and even better than some thanks to its dual water sprayers. The automatic water supply is definitely a very useful design feature. The issue of not cleaning corners is common to all robotic window cleaners, so it's not a major concern. The other concerns are more personal. If they aren't too serious for you, I see no other reason not to recommend this unit. For the price, it's definitely worth considering.

On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye!
