Joyami JW1: a self-cleaning upright vacuum cleaner with a UV lamp

The Joyami JW1 is a wet/dry upright vacuum cleaner priced between $210 and $260, or $2.20 and $2.70 at the exchange rate at the time of writing. For this price, you get a fairly standard wet/dry vacuum cleaner that can not only clean floors but also dry vacuum and disinfect surfaces with a UV lamp. Below, I'll thoroughly test the Joyami JW1 and then share my opinion on whether it's worth buying. I'd be grateful if you'd appreciate my efforts by subscribing and liking after watching the video. So, let's get started!
Equipment
The vacuum cleaner arrived in a branded box like this:
The package includes:
- Charging and self-cleaning base with accessory holder.
- Power adapter.
- Something like a colander to filter dirty water when draining.
- Vacuum cleaner cleaning tools.
- Operating instructions.
The package is standard; unfortunately, there are no spare accessories included.
Appearance
Now let's take a look at the Joyami JW1's design. Let's start with the cleaning module. The roller is removable from the side. It's made of soft bristles with elastic bristles inside to capture hair and fur. The top cover is not removable, which is a bit inconvenient.
The roller doesn't extend to the edges of the cabinet, so it's safe to say there will be a blind spot along the baseboard when washing. A UV lamp is located underneath the roller to disinfect the surface. I can't evaluate the effectiveness of this solution.
A 450 ml dirty water tank is located above the cleaning module. It houses a HEPA filter with a mesh screen and electronic water level sensors. A coarse filter is not included; the manufacturer has included the aforementioned colander instead.
The clean water tank is removed by pulling it upward. It holds up to 680 ml of water. The lid is equipped with a mesh filter for coarse filtration.
The advantage of this wet/dry vacuum cleaner is that the battery is removable. This greatly simplifies the replacement process and allows for extended runtime by purchasing a spare battery.
The top of the housing features an informative display that shows the selected operating mode, battery charge, and service messages. Next to it is a button for starting the self-cleaning function.
As for the handle, it has three mechanical control buttons: power on/off and operating mode selection: Eco or Maximum, as well as a trigger button that controls the water supply to the roller.
It's worth noting that the water supply is forced, which has its advantages. For example, if there's no need to wet the flooring, you can perform dry cleaning only. At the same time, you can manually control the water flow rate during cleaning.
Speaking of the station, the vacuum cleaner charges and self-cleans on it. Unfortunately, there's no automatic roller drying feature.
It's also worth noting that the Joyami JW1 supports voice notifications in Russian.
Overall, as mentioned earlier, the design of a wet/dry vacuum cleaner is standard. It does have its pros and cons when compared to similar products, but we'll discuss those at the end of the video.
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of Joyami JW1, as stated by the manufacturer:
- Battery: Li-Ion, 2600 mAh.
- Power consumption: 150 W.
- Suction power: up to 5500 Pa.
- Operating time: up to 350 min.
- Charging time: up to 4 hours.
- Clean water tank: 680 ml.
- Dirty water tank: 450 ml.
- Noise level: 75-76 dB.
- Weight: 4.3 kg.
In my opinion, the battery is a bit weak compared to similar devices, but otherwise, everything else is standard. I personally tested the noise level, which is around 75-76 dB, which is in line with similar devices.
Testing
And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, we'll check the vacuum cleaner's basic capabilities, specifically how it cleans floors. There will be several tests, ranging from simple to complex.
A detailed video review of the Joyami JW1, including all tests, has already been published on the channel:
The Joyami JW1 handles everyday floor cleaning well. It doesn't leave streaks and thoroughly removes liquid residue from the floor.
It's also capable of scrubbing away dried-on dirt. Here, we see that a narrow area along the baseboard remains unwashed because the roller doesn't extend to the edge of the unit. The blind spot is about 1.5 cm.
However, the Joyami JW1 isn't as effective against tough stains as its competitors. It took just over 10 minutes to completely remove dried-on coffee and sauce stains. It's important to note that I didn't use detergent, as none was included. Adding a suitable detergent at the right concentration to the tank with clean water will improve the results.
Moreover, the vacuum cleaner is suitable not only for washing floors but also for picking up liquids and mixtures. As in my case, the now-traditional test with a raw egg and flour.
The dry cleaning performance was also tested. Joyami JW1 does a good job of picking up various types of debris on laminate flooring. There are no blind spots along baseboards or in corners. That's a plus.
Speaking of carpet cleaning, even with the soft roller structure, the Joyami JW1 can clean carpets. In this case, I don't recommend using forced water to avoid damaging or staining the pile.
The roller did pick up some hair and lint, but it was easy to clean. However, I wouldn't recommend using these types of vacuums for carpets, as debris can clog the suction port, which is what happened during testing. The suction system doesn't work properly without water. Overall, I recommend cleaning carpets with a regular upright vacuum, or entrusting the job to a robotic vacuum cleaner of a suitable design and power.
The last thing left to test was the self-cleaning performance. After extensive tests scrubbing away dirt and stains, I drained the dirty water from the tank, filled another tank with clean water, and ran the self-cleaning cycle. While the roller itself was clean, there was still debris stuck to the top cover after the tests. Cleaning out the debris from there isn't very convenient, which is why I mentioned the non-removable cover earlier. Otherwise, the self-cleaning performance is fine for everyday use.
Personal opinion
The Joyami JW1 upright vacuum cleaner has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. I'll share my thoughts on it.
I liked the following:
- Suitable for both floor washing and dry cleaning.
- The water supply level can be adjusted.
- The quality of floor washing is quite acceptable for domestic conditions.
- Capable of removing difficult stains.
- Removable battery.
- Informative display on the body.
- Voice notifications in Russian.
- Availability of warranty and service.
As for the disadvantages, there are the following comments about the vacuum cleaner:
- There is no drying of the roller on the base.
- Non-removable cover of the cleaning module.
- Doesn't wash a narrow strip along the baseboard.
- The battery is a bit weak.
- Not suitable for cleaning carpets.
Overall, the Joyami JW1 has more pros than cons, and most importantly, it does its job well. If the above concerns aren't critical to you, I see no compelling reason not to recommend this wet/dry vacuum cleaner.
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye!
