REDMOND MultiClean RV-UR390: a wet/dry vacuum cleaner with a set of attachments for dry cleaning

REDMOND MultiClean RV-UR390REDMOND MultiClean RV-UR390

The new REDMOND MultiClean RV-UR390 upright vacuum cleaner is a so-called "wet/transformer" vacuum cleaner that can be used not only for wet cleaning but also for full-fledged dry cleaning. This is all thanks to the detachable main unit, which comes with several attachments for collecting debris. The result is a single device that combines both a wet/dry vacuum cleaner and a vacuum cleaner for dry cleaning. The price of this combined vacuum cleaner ranges from $400-$500, or $450-$560 at the exchange rate at the time of writing. Below, I'll thoroughly test the REDMOND MultiClean RV-UR390, then highlight its pros and cons based on my test results and express my personal opinion. Let's get started!

Appearance

Now let's take a look at the design of the REDMOND MultiClean RV-UR390. The cleaning module features a soft-bristled roller. It's positioned toward the edge of the unit, reducing the blind spot between the roller's edge and baseboards or furniture. The top cover is removable, and the roller is pulled out from the side. Behind it is a squeegee and a suction port.

A 550 ml dirty water tank is located above the cleaning module. It contains a HEPA filter with a mesh screen, electronic water level sensors, and a small coarse filter. A 600 ml clean water tank is located at the rear, with a coarse filter underneath.

The handle contains buttons for controlling the wet/dry vacuum cleaner. These include power on/off, switching between dry and wet cleaning modes, and activating the self-cleaning function at the station.

The display shows the battery percentage, the selected operating mode, and service messages. Incidentally, the REDMOND MultiClean RV-UR390 features an automatic power boost when dirt is detected and voice alerts in Russian.

The main unit of the vacuum cleaner is removable. It is released by pressing the latch on the side. The removable unit contains two mechanical control buttons. These include the power on/off switch and the ability to switch between two operating modes: standard and turbo. The removable dust container contains a filtration system consisting of a mesh and foam filter. Unfortunately, there is no HEPA filter. Let's look at the included attachments. The main floor nozzle has a light, which is a plus. This attachment has a roller with a soft, fluffy tip. This type of roller is suitable for cleaning hard surfaces. The locking mechanism is removable by hand. No additional tools are required.

The upholstery cleaning attachment is equipped with a turbo brush with elastic bristles. To release the turbo brush lock, you'll need a coin or a flat-head screwdriver.

The telescopic extension wand deserves special attention. You can adjust the length of the wand, and therefore the entire vacuum cleaner, to suit your height. It's very convenient.

The build quality is above average. No play was detected, and the latches operate smoothly. So, no complaints in that regard.

Speaking of the base, the vacuum cleaner only uses it for self-cleaning and charging. It also conveniently stores some of the included attachments. Unfortunately, there's no hot air drying feature for the roller.

Technical specifications

The main characteristics of the REDMOND MultiClean RV-UR390, as declared by the manufacturer:

As for weight, the main unit weighs 1,073 grams, the floor nozzle 748 grams, and the extension wand 403 grams. In total, the fully assembled dry vacuum cleaner weighs just 2 kg 224 grams. It's very lightweight. The fully assembled wet vacuum cleaner weighs the same as most similar models—6 kg.

We also tested the battery life at maximum power in dry vacuum mode. The REDMOND MultiClean RV-UR390 lasted 16 minutes and 26 seconds at maximum power. That's a very good result!

Testing

A detailed video review of the REDMOND MultiClean RV-UR390, including all tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel:

And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, let's check how the REDMOND MultiClean RV-UR390 handles its primary task—floor cleaning. It handles everyday floor cleaning perfectly. No complaints. It leaves no streaks or marks, and the water flow is moderate.

If necessary, you can also use a vacuum cleaner to pick up liquids and mixtures, like I did with the now-classic egg and flour dough. Very convenient!

Furthermore, the REDMOND MultiClean RV-UR390 effectively picks up dirt from floors without leaving streaks or marks. Moreover, thanks to the roller extending to the edge of the unit, it can thoroughly clean dirt along baseboards.

In reality, the blind spot is about 7 mm, while most similar models have a blind spot of about 15-20 mm. Still, there's room for improvement.

As for removing tough, dried-on stains, like coffee and sauce, this vacuum cleaner does a fantastic job! It managed to remove all the stains in 2.5 minutes, compared to its previous best time of about 4 minutes. And I didn't even use any detergent, as it wasn't included. Overall, this vacuum cleaner removes stains like a charm!

After testing the wet/dry vacuum cleaner, we checked its self-cleaning performance. We drained the dirty water from the tank, filled the second tank with clean water, and placed the vacuum cleaner back on its base. The self-cleaning function failed to perform well with such heavy soiling. The cover of the cleaning module remained dirty, the roller itself wasn't completely clean, and some debris remained behind the roller. However, the real-world test was challenging, and you're unlikely to let the vacuum cleaner reach this level in everyday life. However, under normal household conditions, after washing the floor, the vacuum cleaner self-cleans well. At least as well as similar products.

I'll also show you how the REDMOND MultiClean RV-UR390 performs in dry cleaning mode with the optional attachments. Regarding suction power, even at standard power, the vacuum cleaner was able to easily vacuum debris from a 10 mm gap. So, it's powerful enough. You might not even need to use Turbo mode.

Now let's test how well the REDMOND MultiClean RV-UR390 picks up floor debris. I scattered various types of debris on the laminate flooring: hair, fur, grains, and other small household debris. This machine performed well. It's important to note that it has no trouble picking up debris along baseboards and in corners. It picks everything up thoroughly. No hair or lint gets caught in the roller. All debris is collected in the dust bin. Test passed!

However, I was unable to clean a medium-pile carpet. The roller itself is not suitable for this purpose, and upon contact with the pile, the roller immediately locks up, causing the vacuum to malfunction. This is the first serious criticism I have of the vacuum.

It's also worth noting that the additional attachments allow you to clean a sofa, areas the main nozzle can't reach, and even the inside of a car. Overall, this vacuum cleaner is suitable for a variety of applications.

Finally, I'll tell you how to clean the dust container. Detach it from the main unit, remove the filtration system, and empty the dust from the container. It's quite convenient.

Personal opinion

The REDMOND MultiClean RV-UR390 upright vacuum cleaner was thoroughly reviewed and tested. I'll highlight the pros and cons I discovered, then share my personal opinion. I liked the following:

I liked the following:

  1. High quality floor washing and dirt removal.
  2. It removes dirt along the baseboard better than many similar products.
  3. Long working time.
  4. The presence of a removable hand-held vacuum cleaner for complete dry cleaning.
  5. High-quality waste collection on hard surfaces.
  6. Automatic power increase when contamination is detected.
  7. Illumination of the cleaning area in the dry cleaning nozzle.
  8. Telescopic extension tube.
  9. Lightweight vacuum cleaner for dry cleaning.
  10. Ergonomic design.
  11. Informative display on the body.
  12. Voice notifications in Russian.
  13. Additional attachments for local cleaning included.
  14. Availability of warranty and service.

There are also disadvantages. The main ones include:

  1. Not suitable for cleaning carpets.
  2. The dry vacuum dust collector does not have a HEPA filter.
  3. There is no drying function for the roller on the base.
  4. There is no way to regulate the water supply level.
  5. Non-removable battery.
  6. It doesn't wash a narrow strip along the baseboard, although it must be admitted that this strip is very narrow.

Ultimately, I can say that the new trend of combining a wet and dry vacuum cleaner in a single device is definitely a good one. It's convenient for both storage and versatility. So, REDMOND released their solution at the right time, and at the time of writing, it's one of the few vacuum cleaners for dry cleaning and floor washing. Overall, I can say that the REDMOND MultiClean RV-UR390 left a positive impression. Yes, there are some criticisms, but similar devices aren't perfect. Therefore, considering the price, I definitely recommend this device. It left a generally positive impression, and if you don't have carpets, or at least low-pile carpets, this vacuum cleaner will be effective and easy to use.

On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!
