Genio Windy W220 DUO: A robotic window cleaner with dual water spray

The new Genio Windy W220 DUO window cleaning robot, priced at $150, features a slim body and, more importantly, a dual-spray system that distributes water directly in front of the cleaning module. The sprayers are mounted on opposite sides of the body, ensuring the surface is wetted as the robot moves in either direction. Below, I'll thoroughly test the Genio Windy W220 DUO, highlight the pros and cons I discovered during my tests, and share my personal opinion. Let's get started!
Equipment
The window cleaning robot arrived in this branded box:
The package includes:
- Power unit.
- Adapter for connecting the power supply to the network.
- Two spare napkin holders.
- Four spare sets of napkins, i.e. 8 pieces.
- Remote control with batteries.
- Bottle for filling water into the robot.
- Operating instructions.
This model comes with a nearly complete set. If only it included a branded window cleaner, it would be perfect!
Appearance
Now let's take a look at the design of the Genio Windy W220 DUO. This oval-shaped window cleaning robot.
The cleaning module consists of two rotating discs onto which round holders with napkins are attached.
The body is approximately 67 mm tall, although the manufacturer states 62 mm. In any case, such a thin body allows this robot to be used on windows with bars.
A safety tether is attached to the robot from the box. The brand logo, indicator lights indicating the robot's status, and an on/off button are located on the top of the body. These indicators are also located on the back, allowing for a visual assessment of the robot's status when mounted on the outside of a window.
Between the napkins there are two nozzles on different sides to supply water to the work surface.
Under one of the holders is a small reservoir with a sealed valve, into which water or a special cleaning solution can be added. The reservoir holds up to 50 ml of liquid.
The napkin holders are attached with snaps. In this regard, the design is standard.
Overall, the design of the Genio Windy W220 DUO does not raise any questions and I have no particular comments regarding the build quality.
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of the Genio Windy W220 DUO, as declared by the manufacturer:
- Backup battery: Li-Ion, 650 mAh.
- Power consumption: 80 W.
- Suction power: up to 2800 Pa.
- Water tank: 50 ml.
- Battery life: up to 20 min.
- Dimensions: 295*145*67 mm.
- Weight: 1.01 kg.
Overall, the specifications are quite standard. I measured the noise level myself. If the robot is indoors, the noise level is around 71-72 dB. However, if it's installed outside and the window is closed, the noise level will depend on the soundproofing of the windows. In my case, it was 48-50 dB.
Functional capabilities
Let's move on to an overview of the Genio Windy W220 DUO's features. The window cleaning robot is controlled via a remote control. There's no option to connect to a mobile app, although I don't see much value in this option, considering you can't start the robot remotely and must always be present when it's operating.
The remote control features three main operating modes: window sweep, left sweep, and right sweep. It also features manual control, start/pause, automatic water supply, and manual water supply. The only missing feature is a dual cleaning cycle; otherwise, all the features are standard.
Testing
A detailed video review of the Genio Windy W220 DUO, including all tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel:
Navigation and window cleaning quality
And finally, let's move on to the tests. You can simultaneously observe the robot's navigation and the quality of its cleaning of the outside of the window. I can say that the robot navigates well, doesn't slip, and is capable of cleaning both narrow windows as small as 38 cm wide and larger ones measuring 150 x 90 cm. And the cleaning performance itself is on par with premium counterparts.
Here, for a visual comparison, is the state of the windows before and after:
You can see that it's truly effective and gets the job done. It's worth noting that I ran the robot twice on each section. The first time with dry wipes to collect the bulk of the dirt and dust. The second time, with the automatic water supply enabled.
Here is the condition of the napkins after the tests:
Regarding the quality of window cleaning, there's only one caveat, typical of all robotic window cleaners: these devices aren't yet capable of effectively cleaning dirt in corners due to their design. But it will definitely help you get the bulk of the job done.
Application on other surfaces
This robot can also be used to clean tiled walls, shower stalls, and mirrors. It's even worth noting that the Genio Windy W220 DUO detects the edges of frameless surfaces and can gently move away from them without losing traction. That's a plus!
The robot is also suitable for cleaning horizontal surfaces. You might even find it useful in your home.
Emergency mode
Let me explain how the Genio Windy W220 DUO operates in emergency mode. When disconnected from the power supply, the robot starts beeping and the red indicators on both sides of the body flash. This allows you to promptly detect the problem and remove the robot from the window. You'll have up to 20 minutes to do this thanks to the built-in uninterruptible power supply.
Personal opinion
The Genio Windy W220 DUO window cleaning robot was thoroughly reviewed and tested. In conclusion, I haven't noticed any difference in the window cleaning quality of more expensive robots compared to this one. It's still not perfect, but it does provide significant assistance.
Yes, it doesn't have any extra features, like app control or Russian-language voice prompts. But I wouldn't say they're particularly necessary or worth the extra cost.
In conclusion, I'd like to highlight the following pros and cons. The robot's advantages:
Pros:
- Good navigation.
- The small height of the body allows it to be used on windows with bars.
- Automatic double water spray as the robot moves.
- Good quality window cleaning.
- Capable of removing light stains.
- Possibility of washing frameless surfaces.
- Works on horizontal surfaces.
- Availability of warranty and service.
The robot has one drawback: it doesn't clean corners as well as other similar products. Ultimately, I see no compelling reason not to recommend this robot. It does its primary job well and will definitely simplify the window cleaning process, and most importantly, make it safer.
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!
