Rekam RVC 1670G

This review is dedicated to a budget-friendly Chinese robot vacuum cleaner for dry cleaning – the Rekam RVC 1670G. This robot is considered an economy class robot due to its mediocre specifications and features, and its correspondingly low price of $45. However, as we know, there's no such thing as a free lunch, so today we'll find out whether this device is worth the investment.
Equipment
Unfortunately, the Rekam RVC-1670G package does not feature a wide variety of accessories, but it does include:
- Robot vacuum cleaner.
- Power unit.
- Dust collector with filter.
- A pair of side brushes.
- Microfiber cloth (2 pcs.).
- Operating instructions.
- Guarantee.
So, the accessories do not include: a charging station, a remote control, and a movement limiter, which is predictable.
Appearance
The robot is made of low-quality black plastic, which is quite easily soiled and wears out. There's also a similar model, the RVC-1600R, in a red and black color scheme, but we'll cover that in another review. The body has a traditional tablet/puck shape, appearing round from the top. The dimensions of the Rekam RVC-1670G robot vacuum cleaner are 26 x 26 x 6 centimeters. It weighs only 1.1 kilograms. This is a very compact device, which is likely due to its weak internals. However, it can easily reach hard-to-reach places and remove dust and debris.
Looking at the front, we see a lid that houses the dust container. The lid is edged with a gray stripe, and the company logo is printed in the center. Above the lid, you'll find the Rekam RVC-1670G's single mechanical start button.
On the side of the robot is a port for connecting a power adapter and charging the device directly from the mains. The docking station does not automatically charge. You'll also notice that this model lacks a bumper. The only protection for the body is the obstacle sensors with gray plastic trim. Not very reliable.
What's on the back of the Rekam RVC-1670G robot vacuum cleaner: drive wheels at the bottom, above which are ventilation holes, a block of two swivel rollers at the top, a pair of side brushes on either side of it, a battery compartment, a suction hole in the central part, and a platform for installing a microfiber cloth (the quality of the cloth leaves much to be desired).
The manufacturer has included two small, basic wheels, which severely limit the robot vacuum's ability to navigate obstacles. The Rekam RVC-1670G's theoretical maximum is 7 millimeters, but in reality, it's unable to navigate even thin wires or carpet.
Further in the review we will consider the main operating parameters, and then the functions of this model.

Functional capabilities
The Rekam RVC-1670G robot vacuum cleaner doesn't have a navigation system. It cleans only in automatic mode, and it moves completely randomly at its own discretion. The only things that save both the surrounding furniture and the robot itself are the built-in obstacle sensors, as well as the device's light weight and compact size. Otherwise, serious damage would be inevitable. The device can often linger in one spot and circle around, forgetting to clean the rest of the room, requiring intervention.
The robot vacuum cleaner cleans the floor with two side brushes, which attempt to sweep up debris and direct it into the dust bin through the suction port. However, the Rekam RVC-1670G's suction power is only 15 watts, so it won't be able to pick up anything other than dust and small debris. The included cleaning cloth is practically useless, even when damp. It will take longer to empty it after attempting to mop the floor. The dust bin has a capacity of 350 milliliters and contains a cleaning filter. The bin and filter will need to be cleaned after 1-2 cleaning cycles. Additionally, the body and sensors must be regularly wiped, as well as the side brushes and wheels.
Robot vacuum control: Simply press the mechanical button on the body, and the Rekam RVC-1670G will begin working automatically. There's no battery level indicator, so if the battery is completely discharged, the robot will simply shut off without warning. You'll need to find it and manually charge it.
Advantages and disadvantages
Pros:
- Low price.
- Compactness.
- Warranty service.
- Ease of management.
Cons:
- The quality of the case, the lack of a protective bumper.
- Ni-MH battery, which has a short service life.
- Poor equipment.
- Primitive navigation, chaotic cleaning.
- Low suction power, low efficiency.
- Poor cross-country ability.
- Small volume of waste container.
- Useless, low quality microfiber cloth.
So, to conclude our review, we'll give you our overall verdict on the Rekam RVC-1670G. This is an affordable robot vacuum cleaner that's a fun way to start your journey into robotics. It's also a fun toy for your children and pets. However, it's not worth considering as a serious standalone home assistant. All it can do is sweep up dust in a few spots; it won't do anything else.
