Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra vs. Roborock S7 Pro Ultra: What's the Difference and Which One to Choose?

In this post, I've compared two of Roborock's top-of-the-line robot vacuums: the flagship S7 MaxV Ultra and the slightly stripped-down S7 Pro Ultra. These two robot vacuums are equipped with identical stations. The main difference lies in the robots themselves. Many are wondering what the exact differences are and whether it's worth paying extra for the MaxV version, or whether it makes sense to save money and opt for the virtually identical Pro version. The price difference between these two robots is significant. The Roborock S7 Pro Ultra costs around $750-$800, while the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra ranges from $950-$1000. Below, I'll detail the differences between the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra and Roborock S7 Pro Ultra, and share my opinion on which robot vacuum is better for different situations. Let's get started!
Design
Regarding design differences, at the time of writing, the MaxV version is only available in black, while the Pro version is available in black and white. As mentioned earlier, the stations are identical in design; only the color is different.
As for the robot vacuum cleaners themselves, there are several differences, which I will discuss in more detail.
The most important difference is the object detection system installed on the front bumper. Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra An active camera with a sensor system is installed for precise RECOGNITION of objects on the floor and careful movement around them.
U Roborock S7 Pro Ultra A standard obstacle detection sensor is installed. It's this object recognition technology that drives the flagship's price. It's not just the camera, but also more sophisticated software.
The next important difference: Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra can be purchased as a complete set or as a separate robot vacuum cleaner (Roborock S7 MaxV) and a station. This allows you to purchase a robot vacuum cleaner first, if necessary, for example, if your budget is limited, and then upgrade to a station later, only if you decide you really need it.
The Roborock S7 Pro Ultra is sold only as a set. This is a very ugly marketing ploy from Roborock. This is confirmed by the fact that the robot lacks charging terminals on the bottom, unlike the S7 MaxV. Consequently, it cannot be docked with a standard charging base, only with the docking station.
Of the less significant design differences, I would like to note the absence of a light indicator on the control panel, as well as a non-removable napkin holder in the Pro version.
The robots have the same body shape, as well as the capacity of their dust bins and water tanks. The cleaning module is also identical.
It turns out that the main surcharge is for the object recognition technology, the advantages of which will be clearly demonstrated below.
Technical specifications
The characteristics of the robotic vacuum cleaners are absolutely identical; I didn’t find a single difference between them.

- Li-Ion battery 5200 mAh.
- Suction power up to 5100 Pa.
- Operating time up to 180 min.
- Cleaning area up to 300 sq.m.
- Dust collector capacity is 400 ml.
- The water tank capacity is 200 ml.
- Obstacle clearance up to 20 mm.

- Power consumption (charging/rinsing/self-cleaning): 0.5A/0.25A/5A (≈115 W/58 W/ 1150 W).
- Clean water tank: 3 l.
- Dirty water tank: 2.5 l.
- Bag in the station: 2.5 l.
- Dimensions: 422*504*420 mm.
Functional capabilities
As for functionality, there are some important differences. Firstly, at the time of this comparison, the Roborock S7 Pro Ultra is not supported by the proprietary Roborock app. It only connects via Mi Home. Fortunately, Russia is the region supported. The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra, on the other hand, connects to the proprietary Roborock app. While both have Russian-language interfaces and no lag, it's important to understand this.
Secondly, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra not only recognizes objects and displays them with corresponding icons on a map, but also allows remote home monitoring via a smartphone through the robot's camera. From anywhere in the world, you can check what's happening at home, whether everything is alright with your pet, or even simply drive the robot to an outlet to check if you've unplugged the iron. You can also transmit voice messages through the robot's speaker and, in principle, conduct a video conversation through the camera. Overall, this is an interesting and, for many, useful feature.
Thirdly, and again, importantly, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is sold in a fully Russian-language version with voice alerts in Russian and a Russian-translated manual. The Roborock S7 Pro Ultra is the version for the European market. The Russian voice package is not supported.
Speaking of app features, they're practically identical. I only noticed that the Roborock S7 Pro Ultra doesn't have separate virtual walls for its wet cleaning mode and doesn't have a drying function. The drying module is optional, but I think these missing features will be added soon. A minor but unique feature of the S7 MaxV is Cupid mode, in which the robot detects other robots in the room, approaches, and kisses them. The Pro version lacks this fun feature. That's where the differences in functionality end.
Quality of cleaning
In terms of cleaning performance, the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra and Roborock S7 Pro Ultra, as expected, showed identical results when tested for suction power, dry cleaning, carpet cleaning, wet cleaning, dirt removal, self-cleaning, and cloth rinsing. They also had similar maneuverability, noise levels, and difficulty accessing black carpets.
You can study all the details and test results in the video version of the comparison:
The only thing I'd like to highlight is the object recognition system. The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra accurately recognizes objects both in good light and in complete darkness. This minimizes the risk of running into unexpected pets, chewing on a sock, or chewing on a charger cord.
Meanwhile, the Roborock S7 Pro Ultra, like all other robot vacuum cleaners without an object detection system, chewed a sock, tangled the charger cord around its brush, and smeared simulated pet excrement across the floor.
In general, when using this robotic vacuum cleaner, you need to prepare the room for cleaning by the robot more thoroughly and set up no-go zones in places that are particularly dangerous for the robot.
Let's sum it up
After a detailed comparison of the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra and S7 Pro Ultra, I'd like to first summarize all the differences in a table, then share my opinion on which robot vacuum is better. Please review the table carefully, which contains all the useful information:
| Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra | Roborock S7 Pro Ultra | |
| Object recognition system | Yes | No |
| Remote home monitoring | Yes | No |
| Set with a standard charging base | Yes | No |

| Voice notifications in Russian | Yes | No |
| Restricted areas for wet cleaning mode | Yes | No |
| Cupid Mode | Yes | No |
| Official distributors in the Russian Federation | Yes | No |
| Full warranty and service | Yes | No |
| Price | $950-$1000
(up to $1600) |
$750-$800

| Where to buy | Aliexpress, distributor website | Aliexpress, |
I'd like to highlight the last lines in the table. I requested information from official Roborock distributors in Russia, and they said the Roborock S7 Pro Ultra version will not be officially sold on the market. At least not in the near future. Consequently, this robot vacuum cleaner can only be ordered on AliExpress without local customer support, which is not ideal given the price. A few offers appeared at the end of September, but again, these are not official distributors. Consequently, there are no plans to release the robot with a Russian voice package. Everything else was discussed and considered within the context of the comparison.
Therefore, if you can afford it and saving money isn't your top priority, I believe it's better to choose the more powerful Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra, which comes with comprehensive after-sales service from distributors. This robot vacuum is especially useful if your pets aren't litter-trained, or if you have small children who scatter toys and other items on the floor. In this case, the robot will be able to clean without making mistakes or causing accidents.
But if you don't need an active camera and are ambivalent about a remote tracking system, fearing the possibility of surveillance and privacy violations, then it certainly makes sense to save money and choose a robot vacuum cleaner with exactly the same power and cleaning performance, but significantly cheaper. This is especially true if the price difference is not $20, but $300, as is often the case during sales. For example, the Roborock S7 Pro Ultra was recently available for just $680. For that price, it's definitely worth considering and can be considered one of the best.
In any case, both robot vacuum cleaners are recommended for purchase. Using the chart and representative tests, you can decide for yourself whether saving is worth it.
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!
