Today we'll be discussing the new Kitfort KT-552 Magellan robot vacuum cleaner. This device is designed for use in homes and small offices. It's suitable for dry and wet cleaning of smooth wood, tile, and linoleum floors, as well as low-pile carpeting. This robot is priced in the mid-price range (approximately $190-$210), although a number of features place it in the premium segment. We'll take a closer look at the Kitfort KT-552's specifications and features, after which we'll share our opinion on whether this robot vacuum is worth purchasing.

Appearance
The Kitfort KT-552 robot is made of durable plastic and has a traditional round shape. It's available in two colors: black (KT-552-1) and white (KT-552-2). Its compact dimensions, measuring 335 x 335 x 80 mm, allow it to fit under most furniture and clean hard-to-reach areas.

The Kitfort KT-552's front panel features a "Start" button with a small control panel and the company logo. The cleaning module/dust container is removable from the rear, and the included microfiber cloth is attached to the bottom. The front of the robot vacuum cleaner reveals a protective bumper, while the side features a power button and a charging port for direct charging.
The Kitfort KT-552's underbody features two drive wheels, a swivel castor, charging contacts, a battery compartment, side brushes, and a central turbo brush. Incidentally, the central brush is a bristle-petal brush.

Functional capabilities
To improve cleaning efficiency, the Kitfort KT-552 model features a room mapping feature, which can be viewed in the smartphone app. We'll discuss the app's features in more detail later in the review.
Application
Let's start by looking at how a robot vacuum cleaner navigates rooms. This is aided by sensors that detect vertical obstacles. When approaching them, the robot simply changes direction and continues cleaning. There are also surface sensors to prevent falls from heights. The robot doesn't have any advanced navigation features.
Map construction
The floor cleaning process itself is accomplished by two side brushes and a central turbo brush, which is excellent for cleaning carpets: it lifts the pile, sweeping away accumulated debris, then sucking it into the dust collector. On smooth surfaces, the turbo brush functions as a broom. Since the side brushes extend beyond the body of the Kitfort KT-552 robot vacuum cleaner, the device can collect debris along walls and in corners. The dust collector uses dual filtration technology: dust first passes through a coarse filter, then through a HEPA filter.
Cleaning technology
The robot vacuum cleaner has the following operating modes:
- automatic – the robot moves along a zigzag path and along obstacles;
- around the perimeter – this mode involves cleaning the floor along the baseboards and furniture;
- local - Kitfort KT-552 cleans in a spiral pattern an area of no more than two square meters;
- random – chaotic cleaning of rooms based on data from sensors;
- intensive – the same as the automatic mode, only the robot vacuum cleaner goes through all areas twice;
- turbo – implies increased suction power.
You can also wet clean your floors by installing a cleaning unit with a water tank and a cleaning cloth on the bottom of the machine. The cleaning cloth is automatically moistened (with three water supply levels), eliminating the need to manually moisten it.
The included magnetic strip allows you to delimit cleaning zones. Simply apply it, and the device will not move beyond those areas.
You can turn the Kitfort KT-552 robot vacuum cleaner on and off and set the desired operating mode using either the remote control or the RoboKit app. The app allows you to control the device from your smartphone via Wi-Fi, so even when you're away from home, you can start the robot, set the cleaning mode, and schedule it.
Advantages and disadvantages
Considering the price and functionality, we will express our opinion about the robot vacuum cleaner under review.
Pros:
- Good equipment.
- Compactness.
- Several convenient modes + wet cleaning.
- Adjusting the water supply to the napkin.
- Setting up a schedule.
- Building a map of the premises.
- Control from a smartphone.
- Detailed instructions in Russian.
- Availability of warranty and service.
The only significant drawback is the robot's poor navigation and lack of a camera or lidar. It's not suitable for cleaning large areas, but overall, it's a decent robot vacuum. While it's certainly not the best value for money, it's still worth considering.
