JIMMY: A brief overview of the brand, pros and cons of JIMMY vacuum cleaners

Hello everyone! We're continuing our review of brands that specialize in the production and sale of vacuum cleaners, and today we'll be talking about Jimmy. In 2023, I tested their products for the first time, namely five upright vacuum cleaners of varying price points, designs, and purposes. After studying the brand's history and gaining real-world experience, I've formed my own opinion about Jimmy, which I'd like to share with you. So, let's get started!
Brand history
First, let's briefly review the brand's history. It belongs to the Chinese company KingClean, which was founded 30 years ago in 1994. The company's headquarters are in Suzhou, China.
KingClean is one of the leading vacuum cleaner manufacturers, and in 1996, it even became the largest vacuum cleaner manufacturer in China. In 1997, the company's engineers created the first vacuum cleaner motor on the market capable of rotating at up to 33,000 rpm. Compared to similar motors, this motor was 30% cheaper and 30% more efficient. By 2015, engineers had already demonstrated a motor capable of rotating at up to 100,000 rpm. Today, Jimmy produces some of the most powerful cordless vacuum cleaners on the market. For example, the flagship Jimmy H10 Pro Hercules boasts a record suction power of up to 245 AeroWatts.
Now let's talk about the company's scale and numbers. Today, the company operates 20 full-cycle factories. This means that these factories invent, design, manufacture, and test products themselves. The company employs over 800 engineers, who create up to 200 patents annually. In total, the company has registered over 1,800 patents. The best of these inventions are incorporated into Jimmy vacuum cleaners. Moreover, many of these developments are used by world-renowned brands such as Philips, Bosch, Karcher, LG, and Samsung.
Over the entire history of the brand, over 160 million vacuum cleaners have been sold, which is a respectable figure.
I'd also like to point out that Jimmy currently produces not only vacuum cleaners, but also hair dryers, household fans, and kitchen appliances. The product range is constantly expanding, and given all of the above, there's no doubt about the brand's reliability and credibility.
Speaking of its affiliation with global giant Xiaomi, as far as I know, Jimmy is not a Xiaomi sub-brand. I also found no information on the packaging or instructions about any collaboration between the two brands.
Advantages and disadvantages
So, based on my experience using Jimmy upright vacuum cleaners, I'll share the strengths and weaknesses I've discovered about the product, as well as the brand itself. Let's start with the positives.
The first and, in my opinion, key advantage of Jimmy vacuum cleaners is very high suction power, both the stated figures and the actual performance verified in tests. According to brand representatives, the increased power is achieved not only by increasing the motor speed but also by a unique approach to the dust collector placement. Jimmy vacuum cleaners have a transverse dust collector. This design, according to the manufacturer, ensures more powerful and longer-lasting suction. Furthermore, it minimizes blockages in the suction channel, reducing the chance of it becoming clogged.
The second advantage of Jimmy vacuum cleaners is implementation of advanced unique technologies and design solutions. For example, the flagship Jimmy H10 Pro is equipped with a system that counts the size of collected debris and dust particles, collecting cleaning statistics and displaying them on the screen. The Jimmy HW9 Pro and HW10 Pro wet/dry vacuum cleaners feature a nozzle above the cleaning module at the front for spraying water into the cleaning area. The HW10 Pro also boasts a mechanism for detaching the main unit with the motor, allowing this wet/dry vacuum cleaner to be used as a handheld vacuum cleaner. Overall, progressive improvements are evident from model to model, enhancing the vacuum cleaner's efficiency and ease of use.
The next advantage is high-quality assembly at our own facilitiesThis isn't an OEM brand selling someone else's product under its own label. It has its own factories, as well as development and testing departments. This enhances brand credibility. The build quality itself is high, considering the price range and compared to similar products from competing brands.
Wide range of products in the line – this is another advantage of the company. The line of cordless dry vacuum cleaners includes over 10 models. In addition, there are 6 wet vacuum cleaners and over 10 models of handheld vacuum cleaners with a UV lamp for removing dust mites. Everyone can find the right vacuum cleaner to suit their needs and budget.
Availability of official distributors on the market I also consider this a key advantage of Jimmy compared to its competitors. When you buy a Jimmy vacuum cleaner from an authorized dealer, you'll receive full warranty and after-sales service, which can be important for many.
Almost all vacuum cleaners in the Jimmy line can boast good equipment, which, in addition to the main floor nozzles, includes various nozzles for local cleaning.
Separately, it is possible to note such an important advantage as availability of spare parts and consumables, which are available on various marketplaces. Once you buy a vacuum cleaner, you won't have to worry about finding replacement accessories. There are tons of them! Various attachments and brushes are also available, which is a great advantage.
Modern design and an optimal price compared to similar products are less significant, but still advantages of Jimmy vacuum cleaners.
Speaking of shortcomings, having studied reviews on marketplaces and taking into account my own operating experience, I can say that no serious drawbacks as such were found, at least not typical for the entire model range. The only ones that can be highlighted are individual comments on individual models. For example, from personal experience, I can say that I don't like the H-series vacuum cleaners' non-removable dust bin and lack of a foam filter before the HEPA filter. The HEPA filter, in turn, takes the brunt of the impact and becomes dirtier faster during use. The HW-series vacuum cleaners leave unwashed areas along baseboards and in corners because the roller doesn't extend to the edge of the housing, and there's no provision for proper hot-air drying of the roller. Again, this isn't a deal-breaker, but it's something Jimmy's engineers still need to work on. In any case, each vacuum cleaner currently available on marketplaces has a large number of predominantly positive reviews, further suggesting that Jimmy products are worth considering.
I'd like to conclude this review on this note. I'd love to hear your thoughts on Jimmy in the comments, especially from those who have used or are currently using their products. What you liked and disliked. Please include the model of the device you used.
