Xbot L7 Pro: A robot vacuum cleaner with lidar, a self-cleaning base, and wet mopping

The Xbot L7 Pro robot vacuum cleaner, which was featured in our review, is finally on sale. A comparative test of the best robot vacuum cleaners of 2020This device is equipped with lidar navigation, dry and wet cleaning functions, and a self-cleaning base. Despite all this, the Xbot L7 Pro boasts competitive specifications and advanced features. At the time of writing, the robot itself costs $350, and the self-cleaning base costs $15,000. However, if you buy them together, the total cost is slightly cheaper – $48.5. Below, I'll show you how the robot works and test how well it cleans debris on various surfaces. So, let's get started!

Appearance
Let's take a look at the Xbot L7 Pro's design. It's round and glossy black. An obstacle detection sensor is mounted on the front bumper, and a wall sensor is on the right.
The lidar for navigation is mounted in the top center. Next to it are two control buttons: start/pause and forced return to the base for charging.
The dust container is removable from the rear. It contains a tool for cleaning the container and the central brush. A special opening is located on the bottom for connecting to the base. Through this opening, dirt is sucked into a bag in the base. The filtration system uses a mesh and HEPA filter. The dust container capacity is 600 ml, according to the manufacturer.
Let's take a look at the robot vacuum's underside. It has two side brushes, and a central turbo brush with bristles and petals. The bristles are dense, and the brush is detachable. As you can see, there are two pairs of charging contacts at the bottom.
Here's the thing: if the wet cleaning attachment is installed, the robot won't be able to self-clean on the base because the attachment will block the opening in the dust bin. In this case, the robot will enter the base forward and charge without self-cleaning. If the wet cleaning attachment isn't installed, it will enter the base backwards, and self-cleaning will occur. This is important to keep in mind.
The wet cleaning nozzle holds up to 110 ml of water. Liquid flows by gravity onto the cleaning pad through two holes at the bottom. The nozzle is secured to the robot with clips.
Overall, the build quality of the Xbot L7 Pro is above average.

Among its features, it's worth highlighting its powerful battery and high suction power. We'll put these to the test later.
Functional capabilities
Let's take a look at the Xbot L7 Pro's functionality. All key features are available in the proprietary mobile app, which you can download by scanning the QR code in the instructions. Installation is straightforward; follow the manufacturer's instructions. The app interface is in Russian. There are some incorrectly translated phrases, but the manufacturer assures that all errors will be fixed in an update.
In the app, you can change the robot's name, adjust the volume of voice alerts, mute the robot completely if necessary, and even turn off the indicator lights. You can also view the cleaning history, including the maps the robot creates for each cleaning. You can also set up a cleaning schedule by selecting days of the week, start times, cleaning modes, cleaning zones (for example, specific rooms), and even suction power. If necessary, you can enable Do Not Disturb mode to prevent the robot vacuum from starting cleaning or making noise when this mode is activated.
Now let's look at the map's capabilities. You can divide rooms into zones or, conversely, combine several rooms into one. You can set cleaning zones on the map, no-go zones where the robot will not enter, and deep cleaning zones, during which the robot passes the specified area twice. Incidentally, the Xbot L7 Pro can store multiple cleaning maps in its memory, which is a plus.
The main control panel allows you to force the robot to return to the charging base, pause and start automatic cleaning, adjust suction power, select cleaning zones, indicate a point on the map where the robot should clean, enable a Y-pattern floor cleaning pattern, initiate a two-pass deep cleaning mode, calibrate the sensors if necessary, and enable manual control of the robot vacuum. In short, it has all the advanced features for automatically maintaining a clean home.
In addition to the app, the Xbot L7 Pro can be controlled using the included remote control. It features functions such as forced return to the charging base, manual control, start/pause, local cleaning mode, floor polisher mode, voice alert mute, suction power adjustment, and maximum suction power.
The Xbot L7 Pro will also soon feature support for the Yandex.Alice voice assistant.
Testing
We recommend watching all the tests in our separate video review of the Xbot L7 Pro:
Navigation
First, we tested the Xbot L7 Pro's navigation in a room with obstacles. It navigated the entire accessible area in a zigzag pattern and along the perimeter. It swept around all four chair legs and around the ottoman. It didn't get stuck on the drying rack. The mirror introduced some mapping error, but this didn't affect cleaning performance. This model has good navigation. The test was successful.
Regarding navigation within the house, the robot divided the entire area into zones, cleaning each zone in turn, first along the perimeter, and then in a serpentine pattern. The map was accurate. It took 33 minutes to clean 34 square meters. Cleaning speed was high.
Suction power
At our test site, the Xbot L7 Pro was only able to vacuum up dirt from crevices as deep as 2 mm. This is sufficient for keeping the house clean. Its suction power is stronger than some premium robot vacuums, but overall, it's on par with other robot vacuums.
Dry cleaning of laminate flooring
The display was littered with dust, hair, cereal, and ground coffee, simulating dust in the corners. And here, the Xbot L7 Pro pleasantly surprised! It managed to pick up all the debris, even sweeping it out of two corners. For a round robot vacuum, the dry cleaning performance is very high.
Most of the debris is collected in the dust bin. Hair is tangled around the central brush.
Cleaning the carpet
We also scattered fur and hair on the carpet. Even on the carpet, the Xbot L7 Pro performed well. Test passed!
Wet cleaning
However, the dirt removal performance isn't very good, as the cloth doesn't press firmly enough against the floor. Therefore, the Xbot L7 Pro isn't capable of removing dried-on dirt.
This robot vacuum cleaner is perfect for delicate wet cleaning. The tank is large enough to clean approximately 30-40 square meters of space. Don't forget that the robot can also operate in mopping mode.
Obstacle clearance
The Xbot L7 Pro can climb thresholds as high as 2 cm, as claimed by the manufacturer. No complaints about this.
Driving on dark surfaces
As for dark flooring, the robot isn't afraid of them and doesn't recognize them as elevation changes. This test was also passed successfully.
Noise level
As for noise levels, in floor polishing mode the noise level does not exceed 59 dB, at minimum suction power the noise level is around 62 dB, and at maximum power it reaches 71 dB. This is slightly higher than the manufacturer's specifications.
Let's sum it up
Xbot L7 Pro has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. our evaluation system he was able to dial 74 out of 100 pointsThis is an excellent result and currently one of the best. We recommend checking out our overall ranking of robot vacuum cleaners that have passed the test at robovac.washerhouse.com: https://robovac.washerhouse.com/en/rejtingi/robovac-obshhij-rejting-robotov-pylesosov-robo.html!
Now I'll express my personal opinion of this robot vacuum after testing it and getting to know it thoroughly. I certainly liked the fact that it's equipped with a self-cleaning base and lidar for navigation. I was also impressed by all the advanced features in the app and the optional remote control. Also worth noting are the high-quality dry cleaning, powerful battery, and comprehensive package. Additionally, the ability to work on dark surfaces and the robot vacuum's excellent maneuverability are also worth noting.
As for the downsides, the main one is, of course, the mediocre wet cleaning performance. There's no electronic water flow control, and the tank is small. There are also some comments about the translation in the app, but this will be fixed soon. Otherwise, considering the competition on the market, I have no particular complaints about the robot. It's truly the best value for the money, and I think it's one of the best. The best robot vacuum cleaners with a self-cleaning base At the time of writing, the overall score confirms this.
On that note, I'd like to conclude this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments below! Happy shopping, everyone!

Does the power automatically increase on carpets?
Good afternoon! Yes)
Does it detect objects on the floor?
Does it continue cleaning after recharging?
Does not detect objects, continues cleaning after recharging.
Hello. I'm having this problem. When I attach the wet cleaning attachment, the vacuum cleaner spins around and stops, and the buttons flash red. The app says "error" and that's it. As soon as I remove the attachment, it works without a problem. I bought a new one, and the same thing happens.
