Comparison of the Dreame V12 Pro, T30, R20, and V16s upright vacuum cleaners
In this review, I'll compare the best Dreame upright vacuums of 2023: the Dreame V12 Pro, T30, R20, and V16s. The first two were released in 2022 and have already gained immense popularity. The others are new for 2023, with the V16s intended for the Chinese market, while the V12 Pro, T30, and V16s are global versions available from authorized distributors and local stores. Many people are wondering which Dreame upright vacuum is the best and what the differences are between these seemingly identical models. Below, I'll provide a detailed comparison of design, specifications, test results, and other parameters to clearly demonstrate all the differences between Dreame's top upright vacuums. After watching the video, I'd be grateful if you'd appreciate my efforts by subscribing and liking. So, let's get started!
Price
First, let's compare the prices of verticals. Cost Dreame V12 Pro is in the range of $290-$330. The same price is also available Dreame T30: from $290 to $330 . Dreame R20 The Dreame V16s is slightly more expensive, ranging from $330 to $345. And the most expensive is the Dreame V16s, with prices starting from $31 to $420. Considering it's a Chinese version, the price range depends on delivery speed and the seller's reliability. I've included purchase links in the video description. As you can see, the price difference isn't all that significant.
I've collected purchase links in the table:
| Dreame V12 Pro | Dreame T30 | Dreame R20 | Dreame V16s | |
| from 31,000 | from 29,000 | from 33,000 | from 41,000 | |
| SberMegaMarket | from 31,000 | from 30,000 | — | from 41,000 |
| Aliexpress | from 29,000 | from 32,000 | from 33,000 | from 33,000 |
Equipment
Now let's compare the Dreame upright vacuum cleaners' accessories. They vary and, for many, will be a significant factor when choosing between several models. I've summarized all the information in a table for easy reference:
| Dreame V12 Pro | Dreame T30 | Dreame R20 | Dreame V16s | |
| Floor nozzle with carpet roller | + | + | + | — |
| Floor nozzle with roller for hard floors | — | — | + | + |
| Turbo brush attachment for cleaning upholstered furniture | + | + | + | + |
| Crevice tool | + | + | + | + |
| Attachment with sliding bristles | + | + | + | + |
| Flexible extension hose | + | + | — | — |
| Bendable adapter | + | + | + | + |
| Soft bristle attachment | + | + | — | + |
| Polishing attachment | — | — | — | + |
Here I would like to point out that the most versatile, in my opinion, package is the Dreame R20, as it has a roller attachment for carpets and a separate roller attachment for hard surfaces.
The Dreame V16s's key feature is its mopping attachment with two rotating discs. This attachment allows you to vacuum and mop your floors simultaneously. However, it lacks a carpet roller, so this version is better suited for cleaning hard floors.
The Dreame V12 Pro and T30 have absolutely identical configurations, but in principle, they will be sufficient for everyday use.
While the carpet roller attachment works well on hard floors, the fluffy roller attachment for hard floors doesn't perform as well on carpets. This is important to keep in mind.
Design and functions
It's far more important to compare the design and functionality of Dreame upright vacuum cleaners. Again, I've compiled all the key parameters into a table for easy reference:
| Dreame V12 Pro | Dreame T30 | Dreame R20 | Dreame V16s | |
| Removable battery | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Removable dust collector | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Number of filtration stages | 5 | 5 | 5 | 5 |
| Operating modes | 4 (Auto, Eco, Standard, Turbo) | 4 (Auto, Eco, Standard, Turbo) | 2 (Auto, Turbo) | 3 (Eco, Standard, Turbo) |
| Illumination of the cleaning area | No | No | Yes | Yes |
| Automatic power increase | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
We see that the V12 Pro has a non-removable battery and dust container. These are significant drawbacks compared to the older models in the lineup. The T30 has an updated design, and for this reason, given the choice between the Dreame V12 Pro and the T30, I'd choose the latter.
The new R20 and V16s offer the most user-friendly design. This applies not only to the removable components but also to the illumination of the cleaning area in front of the main floor nozzle. This improves cleaning performance.
The loss of two additional modes on the R20 isn't a big deal—it only makes sense to use the vacuum cleaner in Auto mode to maximize battery life. However, the lack of Auto mode on the Dreame V16s is disappointing. It's often considered the brand's flagship model, but depriving a flagship of such an important feature is a very strange decision.
In the end, based on design and capabilities, I would place the upright vacuum cleaners in the following order, from best to worst: Dreame R20, V16s, T30, V12 Pro.
Characteristics
It's equally important to compare the specifications of Dreame upright vacuum cleaners. Again, all the information is in the table:
| Dreame V12 Pro | Dreame T30 | Dreame R20 | Dreame V16s | |
| Suction power | 210 watts | 190 watts | 190 watts | 210 watts |
| Power consumption | 650 W | 550 W | 570 W | 650 W |
| Battery | Li-Ion 2700 mAh | Li-Ion 2900 mAh | Li-Ion 2900 mAh | Li-Ion 2700 mAh |
| Stated operating time | up to 85 min | up to 90 minutes | up to 90 minutes | up to 85 min |
| Real time running in Turbo mode | 9 min 30 sec | 12 minutes 37 seconds | 13 minutes 33 seconds | 9 min 51 sec |
| Actual noise level | 77.5-85.5 dB | 72.5-83 dB | 72-85 dB | 71-85 dB |
| Actual weight when fully assembled | 2.66 kg | 2.74 kg | 2.73 kg | 2.65 kg |
We can see that the Dreame V12 Pro and V16s are slightly more powerful, but in reality, you won't notice the difference in power in everyday use. Battery life is key. Both the R20 and T30 models have significant differences in battery life. This is much more important, especially when cleaning carpets, upholstered furniture, mattresses, or car interiors, where Turbo mode can be useful.
Test results
Now, let me briefly review the test results of the upright vacuum cleaners being compared. For a visual overview of the test results, I recommend watching the video comparing the Dreame V12 Pro, T30, R20, and V16s upright vacuum cleaners:
All four models perform excellently on hard floors, leaving no blind spots along baseboards or in corners. Pet hair and fur are virtually eliminated from the roller thanks to the well-designed structure and comb behind the roller on the V12 Pro, T30, and R20 models. The V16s's roller design prevents debris from clinging to the vacuum cleaner and instead directly feeds it into the suction channel.
On carpets, the only vacuum cleaner that performs better is the Dreame V16s, which has an unsuitable roller design. Other vacuum cleaners literally suck the life out of carpets thanks to their high power and short-bristled rollers. However, if your carpet has a low pile, this roller will be sufficient. Again, you can purchase a carpet roller attachment from the comparable devices included in this comparison.
In terms of power, all Dreame upright vacuums compared are good. The actual suction power is very high even in standard mode. It's more than sufficient for household use.
And once again, the Dreame V16s's unique feature is that, thanks to the floor polisher attachment, it can vacuum and mop floors simultaneously. Many people are drawn to this feature! This means you can both vacuum and mop hard surfaces in one go.
Personal opinion
After comparing all the key parameters and test results, I can say that, for me personally, the best Dreame upright vacuum cleaner of 2023 is the Dreame R20. This is for three reasons. First, it has different roller designs for hard floors and carpets. Second, it's a global version, officially available in Russia. Consequently, it comes with full warranty support and service. And finally, the third reason is the inclusion of a cleaning zone light, something the V12 Pro and T30 sorely lacked. Add to this the optimal price, especially during sales, and the inclusion of an automatic mode, which the Dreame V16s lacks.
I'd give the Dreame V16s second place. It has a cool lighting system for the cleaning area, a well-designed vacuum, high power, and a polishing attachment, which will still appeal to some buyers. It lacks an auto mode, a carpet roller, and official sales, so it doesn't get the top spot.
In third place I place the Dreame T30 for its removable battery and dust collector.
Well, the V12 Pro is inferior in many parameters in this comparison, although in terms of the quality of debris collection on different surfaces, it is clearly not worse than the others.
How would you rank the four models being compared, from best to worst, so to speak? Let me know in the comments, I'm very interested!
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye!

I've been using the T30 for two years now, and I have no complaints. Everything is fine. The only thing that could be improved is backlighting. That's why I'm giving my children the R20.
