Clever&Clean L-Series 707: a smart, practical, and affordable robot vacuum cleaner

Hello, readers! This time, I've got the new Clever&Clean L-Series 707 robot vacuum cleaner in my test room, the company's flagship for 2021. This robot vacuum boasts lidar navigation, dry and wet cleaning functions, and useful features when controlled via a mobile app. And all this for under $250, which is quite reasonable for a lidar-equipped robot. Below, I'll take a detailed look at and test the Clever&Clean L-Series 707, after which I'll share my opinion on whether it's worth buying. So, let's get started!
Equipment
First, let's look at the package contents. The robot vacuum cleaner comes in a box like this, which is further enclosed in a cardboard shipping crate:
It comes complete with:
- Charging base.
- Power adapter.
- Separate water tank with built-in microfiber cloth.
- Spare napkin.
- Two spare side brushes.
- Spare HEPA filter.
- Brush for cleaning the robot.
- And the operating instructions are in Russian.
The kit includes all the necessary consumables for the robot's initial use, which is a plus. However, a remote control is not included.
Appearance
Now let's take a look at the exterior of the Clever&Clean L-Series 707. It's round, black, and has a glossy top cover. The cabinet height is 96 mm from the floor.
The top control panel features three mechanical buttons: a forced return to the charging base, a start/pause button, and a Wi-Fi reset button. The lidar is equipped with a mechanical button to prevent the robot vacuum from getting stuck under furniture.
The dust container is removed from the back. A manufacturer's sticker indicates that the container should not be washed with water. The dust container lid opens easily for emptying. The motor is located inside the dust container, which is why the container itself should not be washed with water. The filtration system uses a HEPA filter and a mesh filter, and the container itself holds up to 600 ml of dry waste.
Instead of a dust collector, the robot can be equipped with a 350 ml water tank. Inside, you'll find a pump for electronically controlling the water supply. The cleaning cloth is attached to the tank with Velcro. Water flows through six dispenser holes.
A small compartment in the tank is used by the robot to sweep debris into it with the brush during wet cleaning. Suction is disabled, allowing the Clever&Clean L-Series 707 to sweep while mopping.
Let's take a look at the robot's underside. It has three fall protection sensors. It has two side brushes, three-beam, quick-release, and bristle brushes.
A bristle-petal turbo brush is installed in the center. The bristles are quite dense. A cap on one side is removable for cleaning the brush of tangled hair and fur.
Overall, the build quality is slightly above average, and there are no particular complaints about the robot for its price.

Functional capabilities
Let's take a look at the features of the Clever&Clean L-Series 707. The robot vacuum is controlled via the Tuya app. Connecting is straightforward; just follow the manufacturer's instructions, which are detailed in the manual.
Important comment from the brandThe robot has two built-in Wi-Fi connection options: the EZ protocol, which quickly searches for a new device within the router's coverage area, or by transmitting a password via the AP protocol. This improves connection stability and is essential if the network is restricted or the router has a firewall.
On the main control panel, the robot creates a room map and automatically divides the area into rooms, which is a plus. Let's first look at the basic settings. Here, you can select manual control mode and choose the desired map from the robot vacuum cleaner's memory. Incidentally, this model can store up to five maps. You can also search for the robot by sound signal, set a cleaning schedule by time and day of the week, and adjust suction power and the degree of moistening of the cleaning cloth. Additionally, you can activate modes such as:
- Y-shaped floor mopping.
- Silent mode, when the robot should not disturb you.
- And the ability to continue cleaning after recharging from the place where the robot finished.
Below you can see the cleaning log and voice package selection. Clever&Clean L-Series 707 speaks Russian and English.
Let's return to the main work panel. Here you can access the restriction editor, which allows you to set no-go zones and virtual walls on the map. There are no separate no-go zones for wet cleaning mode.
In the room editor, you can combine multiple rooms into one or, conversely, divide a room into separate zones. You can also restore the map to its original state.
Below the map, data on the last cleaning job and the battery charge are displayed. The bottom row of buttons is used to start automatic cleaning mode, select a point on the map where the robot should clean locally, select rooms to clean, select cleaning zones on the map, and force the robot to return to the base for charging.
Additionally, the Clever&Clean L-Series 707 supports control via Yandex Alice. This is a plus. It has all the necessary features. The only things I personally miss are the ability to schedule cleaning in specific rooms and automatic power boost when entering carpets.
Testing
A detailed video review with all the tests has already been prepared and published on our channel. We recommend watching:
Navigation
First, let's test the Clever&Clean L-Series 707's navigation in a room with obstacles. The robot had no problems in this regard: it had no trouble cleaning the legs of a clothes dryer, and was able to clean around a box and each chair leg separately. After completing its perimeter sweep, the robot vacuums the accessible area in a serpentine pattern and returns to the charging station.
As for cleaning the entire house, there are no complaints about the robot. It cleans room by room, first along the perimeter, then in a serpentine pattern, and then returns to the base to charge. There were no uncleaned areas, and the cleaning speed was good, so the navigation test was a success!
Suction power
In terms of suction power, the Clever&Clean L-Series 707 was only able to vacuum debris from a 2mm gap, which is typical for robot vacuums that claim a suction power of around 2500 Pa. However, this power is generally sufficient for automatically maintaining a clean home.
Dry cleaning of laminate flooring
Dirt collection performance on hard floors is also on par with premium models. The Clever&Clean L-Series 707 was able to pick up pet hair, hair, small household debris, and even cat food and litter. Only a small amount of debris remained in the corner, which round robot vacuums can't reach. The hair got tangled up in the center and side brushes, and the bulk of the debris ended up in the dust bin.
Cleaning on the carpet
The robot also cleans carpets well, including wool and hair, so the Clever&Clean L-Series 707's dry cleaning is quite effective.
Wet cleaning
The cleaning performance of slightly dried-on dirt on the floor was also impressive. The robot was able to remove the dirt without leaving streaks. A small strip along the baseboard remained uncleaned, but this was a weak point of all the robots in our test room.
Overall, I liked the Clever&Clean L-Series 707's wet mopping function. At medium water flow, the robot leaves an even, streak-free trail. And if you need to thoroughly clean a waterproof floor, such as tile, the intensive mode wets the cloth generously. And don't forget that the robot features an additional Y-shaped floor cleaning system, similar to a floor polisher.
The only downside is that this robot vacuum can't vacuum and mop at the same time. Dry and wet cleaning are separate.
Obstacle clearance
There are also some concerns regarding off-road performance. The Clever&Clean L-Series 707 is unable to overcome a 2-centimeter threshold. It can only go over thresholds no higher than 15 mm.
Driving on dark surfaces
This robot vacuum cleaner also recognizes a black carpet as a height difference, so it cannot work on black surfaces, which is important to keep in mind.
Noise level
Finally, we measured the noise level of the device in different modes. In floor polishing mode, with the suction disabled, the noise level was between 58-60 dB. In ECO mode, the noise level reached 63 dB, in standard mode it was around 64 dB, and at maximum power, the peak was 66 dB. Yes, this robot is slightly quieter than its competitors.
Let's sum it up
Clever&Clean L-Series 707 has been thoroughly reviewed and tested. our evaluation system he was able to dial 68 out of 100 pointsThis is quite a good result, considering the price, functionality, and test results.

Among the advantages of the model I would like to highlight:
- Good navigation, including automatic zoning of the premises into rooms.
- The quality of dry and wet cleaning is above average.
- Advanced floor polisher mode.
- Large dust collector and water tank.
- Low noise level.
- Availability of a warranty and service support from a manufacturer officially represented on the market.
- Optimal price for a lidar robot.
- Yandex.Alice support.
Regarding the comments on the robot, I found the following:
- Fear of dark floor coverings.
- The robot is not able to move over obstacles higher than 15 mm.
- Separate dry and wet cleaning.
- There is no automatic power increase function on carpets.
- When setting up a cleaning schedule, you cannot select rooms to clean.
These criticisms may be insignificant to some. In any case, for $250, the Clever&Clean L-Series 707 is worth considering, especially considering it's sold in major chain stores and the manufacturer has a strong reputation in the market. Moreover, in terms of cleaning quality and basic functions, the robot is no worse than its competitors.
On that note, I'd like to end this review. Any questions? Let us know in the comments! Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!

Thanks for the interesting review.
Tell me, is it about the same price as the Dreame D9?
Which manufacturer left a better impression in terms of quality: Dreame or Clever&Clean?
Clever&Clean is a proven brand, and the manufacturer is officially operating on the market. Dreami has slightly more power, more features, and simultaneous dry and wet cleaning, but CleverClean cleans floors better and seems slightly better built.
So, how does the Clever&Clean L-Series 707 wet cleaning work? The side brushes and turbo brush don't work during cleaning?
They work, sweeping without suction. They simply dump the trash into a small waste compartment.
