Ecovacs Deebot OZMO 950: A Competitive Alternative to the Roborock S5 Max

The new Deebot OZMO 950 robot vacuum cleaner from Ecovacs, one of the world's leading robot vacuum manufacturers, recently hit the market. This model falls into the premium price range, with an average price of around $450, but the lowest price at the time of writing is $290. For this price, you get excellent hardware and a wide range of controls. In this review, we'll detail all the specifications and features of the Ecovacs Deebot OZMO 950 robot vacuum cleaner, as well as a wet and dry cleaning test.
Equipment
The Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 950 is shipped in a branded cardboard box with a plastic handle. The box features an image of the model and a brief description of its technical specifications.
The basic delivery set contains the following elements and consumables:
- Robot vacuum cleaner.
- Charging station.
- Power cable.
- Two sets of side brushes.
- Turbo brush and suction element to choose from.
- Water tank (already installed in the robot).
- Microfiber cloth.
- Disposable cleaning wipes (5 pcs.).
- HEPA filter (2 pcs.).
- Cleaning tool.
- Operating instructions.
- Warranty card.
All components of the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 950 are carefully packaged and arranged in individual bags and boxes. It's important to note that the robot does not include a cleaning zone limiter or remote control. Control and settings are available via a mobile app on your smartphone.
A significant advantage of this robot is the replaceable central unit, you can choose for yourself, it will be robot vacuum cleaner with or without a turbo brush.
Appearance
The robot vacuum's body is made of black plastic and appears round when viewed from above. A lidar sensor is located above the top cover. Under the cover, in addition to the dust bin, are a power switch, a Wi-Fi hotspot activation button, and a tool for cleaning the device and cutting stuck threads. A touch-sensitive start button is located next to the turret. The company logo is also located on top.
A frontal view of the robot vacuum cleaner reveals a soft-touch protective bumper, as well as a removable wet cleaning module with a separate nozzle on the back, which is equipped with mounts for a microfiber cloth. In this regard, the robot vacuum cleaner is structurally similar to the well-known Roborock S5 MaxThere are ventilation grilles on both sides.
Turning the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 950 over, we see spring-loaded drive wheels, a swivel caster, charging contacts, two side brushes, and a central turbo brush module that can be replaced with a suction element. It features reinforced suspension, allowing it to easily navigate thresholds and carpets.
The overall dimensions of the body are quite compact: 348 x 348 x 93 millimeters. The robot can reach under some furniture to clean, but its height is not the lowest among similar devices.
Technical specifications
All the main characteristics of the Deebot Ozmo 950 are summarized in the table:
| Type of cleaning | Dry and wet |
| Power supply | Li-Ion battery 5200 mAh |
| Opening hours | Up to 200 minutes |
| Charging time | Up to 300 minutes |
| Suction power | 600/1200/1500 Pa |
| Maximum height of obstacles | Up to 20 mm |
| Dust container volume | 430 ml |
| Water tank capacity | 240 ml |
| Dimensions | 348*348*93 mm |
| Weight | 4.5 kg |
| Noise level | Up to 66 dB |
Overall, the specs are decent. The only questionable issue is the suction power, which is inferior to the same Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaners, but during tests, the Ecovacs Deebot OZMO 950 showed good cleaning quality even on carpets, so either the stated power is actually higher, or other manufacturers, on the contrary, overstate this characteristic.
Functional capabilities
As noted earlier in the review, the robot vacuum cleaner is equipped with a lidar sensor, which ensures precise spatial orientation. The vacuum cleaner creates a room map, taking into account the placement of objects within the rooms, and then plots the optimal route for each specific situation. In addition to the lidar sensor, the robot is equipped with a set of contact and non-contact obstacle sensors, surface sensors, height difference sensors, virtual boundary sensors, and a dust bin full indicator.
The robot vacuum cleaner can simultaneously perform dry and wet cleaning on various flooring types (marble, linoleum, laminate, tile, etc.). Carpets and rugs are dry-cleaned only. The Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 950 performs a comprehensive cleaning in several stages:
- The side brushes sweep debris towards the central turbo brush.
- The floating turbo brush fits snugly against the floor surface, ensuring effective cleaning. On carpets, the brush penetrates the pile, sweeping away sand, crumbs, hair, and fur. On smooth floors, it can sweep fine debris from crevices and joints up to four millimeters deep (for rooms without carpets, a direct suction module can be installed).
- The electric motor turbine creates a vacuum, which allows the robot to suck up and direct debris from the turbo brush into the dust collector.
- A damp microfiber cloth completes the cleaning cycle, removing any remaining dust from the floor.
A sensor located in the suction channel detects the floor covering, thanks to which, when changing its type (for example, moving from laminate to carpet), the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 950 robot vacuum cleaner increases the suction force.
The dust collector is a 430-milliliter container with a small carrying handle. The design is very convenient; debris stays in place when removing and carrying the container. The container features triple air filtration with a fine-mesh mesh, a foam pad, and a fine HEPA filter.
The robot vacuum's wet cleaning unit consists of a 240-milliliter container equipped with an electric pump to regulate the water flow and evenly wet the microfiber cloth. The cloth is attached to a special plate mounted on the bottom of the unit, near the water reservoir.
The Deebot Ozmo 950 robot vacuum's primary mode is automatic zigzag cleaning. This mode cleans the entire cleaning area. Additional settings and control options are available in the smartphone app.
Overview of application features:
- installation of virtual walls and no-go zones (+ separate zones for wet cleaning mode);
- saving up to 3 cleaning maps;
- setting the sequence of work by rooms;
- selection of zones for local cleaning;
- continued operation after recharging;
- setting up a cleaning schedule by time and day of the week;
- activation of maximum suction power (1500 Pa) and regulation of liquid supply to the microfiber;
- viewing statistical data;
- online work tracking;
- Setting up voice reports and much more.
The Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 950 robot vacuum cleaner supports Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice assistants, as well as Smart Home system integration.

Advantages and disadvantages
To summarize, let's highlight the main pros and cons of the robot vacuum cleaner under review. Among the advantages, we would like to highlight:
- Lidar for navigation.
- Create a room map and save up to 3 cleaning maps in memory.
- Control via proprietary application.
- Simultaneous dry and wet cleaning.
- The turbo brush can be replaced with a direct suction module.
- 2 side brushes.
- Electronic regulation of power and level of wetting of the cloth.
- All advanced functionality is available in the application.
- Voice control support.
- Good equipment.
- Good obstacle clearance.
- Zoning of premises into rooms.
- Optimal price.
- There is a warranty and service support.
No significant drawbacks were identified. As mentioned earlier, the suction power is good, despite the stated power being only 1500 Pa. Considering the wide price range, for $300-$350, this is an ideal option, one of the best on the market. At $400, this robot faces significant competition from the S5 Max with its improved side brush and detachable turbo brush, and for prices over $450, the new one is the clear favorite. S6 MaxVIn any case, the robot in question successfully passed our tests and left a positive impression, so we recommend purchasing it if you're interested in this model!

Hello, thank you for the reviews, I've watched a lot of them.
Please advise, this is my first time buying a cat, in a big house with 3 floors, no carpet, but with a cat =)
I'm thinking of getting two vacuum cleaners. I want one cheaper, the Midea M7 Pro or a Xiaomi (something).
On the first floor I'm torn between Ecovacs 950 (it seems more durable), Dreame L10, ProGutrend VISION 730.
What is better to choose?
