Evolution Smart Clean DS2511: An upright vacuum cleaner with a powerful self-cleaning station

The Evolution Smart Clean DS2511 is a new self-cleaning upright vacuum cleaner, priced at around $250. For that price, it features a self-cleaning station, a 300-watt motor generating up to 25,000 Pa of suction, two different rollers on the main nozzle, and additional attachments for spot cleaning. Below, I'll thoroughly test the Evolution Smart Clean DS2511, highlight its pros and cons based on my test results, and then express my opinion on whether this self-cleaning vacuum is worth buying. Let's get started!
Equipment
The vacuum cleaner arrived in a protective cardboard box, inside which the vacuum cleaner itself and the self-cleaning station were packed in separate boxes.
The package includes:
- The station itself.
- Main block.
- Removable battery.
- Telescopic extension tube.
- Basic floor nozzle with carpet roller.
- Replacement fluffy roller for the main attachment.
- Attachment with sliding bristles.
- Crevice nozzle.
- Operating instructions.
- Spare reusable bag for the station.
Appearance
Now let's take a look at the Evolution Smart Clean DS2511's design. Let's start with the main unit.
The battery is removable, which is a plus. It features charge status indicators, duplicated on both sides.
The vacuum cleaner is turned on and off by pressing the trigger button. Touch-sensitive power level controls are conveniently located within the thumb's reach. There are three modes: Eco, Standard, and Turbo. The selected mode is indicated by a corresponding indicator light; there is no display.
Under the top cover, which bears the company logo, is a blown-out HEPA filter protected by an additional layer of foam.
The dust container is removable, which is also a plus. It features a self-cleaning curtain at the station. You can also manually empty the container by pressing the latch that secures the bottom. Inside, there's a HEPA-based filtration system with a mesh filter. There's no cyclone.
Let's take a look at the basic floor nozzle. It has a front-mounted light that illuminates the cleaning area, which is a nice touch. Out of the box, the nozzle comes with a carpet roller with short, flexible bristles. The roller is held in place by a locking button on the side. A fluffy roller for hard floors can be installed instead.
The additional attachments included in the standard kit are suitable for spot cleaning in domestic conditions.
The telescopic extension tube deserves special attention. It allows you to adjust the vacuum cleaner's height to suit your height. Very convenient.
What I didn't like was the vacuum cleaner's tilt angle. Due to its design, the tube doesn't lie flush with the floor. Therefore, it's impossible to reach deep under low furniture with this nozzle, even if the nozzle itself is tall enough.
Let's take a look at the self-cleaning station. The control panel with touch buttons is located on the top. It features automatic self-cleaning, which empties the container as soon as you place the main unit in the station, as well as a manual self-cleaning function. The control panel also features station status indicators.
Below the control panel are the charging terminals and the suction channel. The waste bag is located behind the cover and holds 3 liters.
This bag is disposable, like its counterparts. However, the kit also includes a reusable bag, the contents of which can be shaken out.
There's a pre-filter under the bag. Interestingly, there's another filter at the back of the station, a HEPA filter. So, I can say this station has a good filtration system compared to similar products. The vacuum cleaner itself also has a decent filtration system, considering it has two HEPA filters. Incidentally, the manufacturer allows the entire filtration system to be washed with water.
Speaking of the station itself, I have only one criticism: there are no holders for additional attachments, of which there are only two. Considering the station's size, convenient storage for accessories could have been provided.
Technical specifications
The main characteristics of the Evolution Smart Clean DS2511, as stated by the manufacturer:
- The power consumption of the vacuum cleaner is 300 W.
- The station's power consumption is 1800 W.
- Suction power up to 25,000 Pa.
- Li-Ion battery 2500 mAh.
- Dust collector 500 ml.
- Bag in the station: 3 l.
- Working time: up to 60 min.
- The noise level of the vacuum cleaner is 72-78.5 dB.
- The weight of the fully assembled vacuum cleaner is 2.54 kg.
- Station dimensions: 74*25*26 cm.
Here, I'd like to highlight the station's increased power. Most similar stations have power levels no higher than 1000 W.
I personally tested the vacuum cleaner's noise level. It ranged from 72 to 78.5 dB, which is quite standard for upright vacuum cleaners.
The main unit weighs 1,481 grams, the extension tube weighs 328 grams, and the floor nozzle weighs 603 grams. The fully assembled vacuum weighs 2,412 grams, making it slightly lighter than most similar vacuums.
Testing
A detailed video review of the Evolution Smart Clean DS2511, including all tests, has already been prepared and published on the channel:
Opening hours
And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, let's check the battery life of the EVOLUTION SMART CLEAN DS2511 in Turbo mode with the main floor nozzle attached. It managed to run for just over 13 minutes, which is a pretty standard result.
It's worth noting that there's no need to always use turbo mode when cleaning. For household cleaning, either eco or standard mode is sufficient, especially if you're not cleaning carpets. In eco mode, the vacuum cleaner can run for up to 60 minutes.
Suction power
In terms of suction power, with the carpet roller installed, the EVOLUTION SMART CLEAN DS2511 was able to vacuum up to 6 mm deep crevices in Eco mode. At medium power, it even managed to partially vacuum up to 10 mm deep crevices. In Turbo mode, it thoroughly cleaned all crevices. This vacuum's power is more than sufficient for everyday use.
Collecting debris on laminate flooring
Now let's test how well the EVOLUTION SMART CLEAN DS2511 picks up debris from hard floors with the fluffy roller attached. I scattered various types of debris on the laminate flooring: hair, fur, grains, and other small household debris. There's a minimal blind spot along the baseboard where the roller doesn't pick up any debris, even in Turbo mode. This is because the roller doesn't extend to the sides or front of the unit. Nevertheless, cleaning performance is good. The roller doesn't get tangled up in hair or fur. All debris is collected in the dust bin.
Carpet cleaning
The same debris was scattered on a low-pile carpet, and the EVOLUTION SMART CLEAN DS2511 performed equally well, thoroughly cleaning the carpet. This time, the carpet roller attachment was used, and as you can see, this type of roller picked up pet hair and fur.
The vacuum also cleans medium-pile carpets well, the roller doesn't jam, and the vacuum doesn't go into error mode. Test passed!
Using additional attachments
It's also worth noting that the additional attachments allow you to clean a sofa, areas the main nozzle can't reach, and even the inside of a car. Overall, this vacuum cleaner is suitable for a variety of applications.
Self-cleaning
Finally, I'll tell you about the self-cleaning dust bin. For example, I filled the dust bin tightly with Christmas tree needles, which I specifically left for this purpose. They are instantly emptied from the bin when the self-cleaning function is activated. If the vacuum cleaner's container is filled with fur and hair, this won't be a problem for the station. It completely empties the dust bin thanks to its high power.
And here's a clear advantage of a reusable bag. You remove the clip and shake out all the debris through the opening. It's very convenient, and there's a serious shortage of such bags for self-cleaning robot vacuums, of which there are many more on the market!
You can also manually empty the vacuum cleaner's dust container by opening the latch, if necessary.
Personal opinion
The Evolution Smart Clean DS2511 upright vacuum cleaner was thoroughly reviewed and tested. I'll highlight its pros and cons, then share my personal opinion. I liked the following:
- An effective and highly powerful self-cleaning station, perfect for allergy sufferers who want to minimize their exposure to debris, as well as for those who are too lazy to constantly empty the dust container.
- High-quality waste collection on any surface, including carpets.
- A telescopic extension tube allows you to conveniently adjust the height of the vacuum cleaner to suit your height.
- Illumination of the cleaning area in the floor nozzle.
- The vacuum cleaner itself is light in weight.
- Removable battery.
- Removable dust collector.
- Availability of a reusable garbage bag at the station.
- Good filtration system in the station.
- Availability of warranty and service.
Speaking of the shortcomings, I will highlight them in order of priority for myself, from the most significant to the least:
- The vacuum cleaner does not have a 180-degree tilt angle for cleaning under low furniture.
- The kit does not include a turbo brush attachment for cleaning upholstered furniture.
- The station cannot store additional attachments from the kit.
- The vacuum cleaner cannot be parked vertically outside the station. This means if you want to take a break mid-cleaning, you'll need to either place it on the floor or prop it up.
- There is a minimal blind spot along the baseboard near the main floor nozzle.
Overall, the Evolution Smart Clean DS2511 is quite competitive in the self-cleaning upright vacuum cleaner market. It's not perfect, but similar products have their strengths and weaknesses. No criticisms were found, so if the aforementioned drawbacks aren't significant to you, I see no reason not to consider this option. It's definitely worth the money.
On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping. Bye!
