Appearance

Now let's take a look at the Clever&Clean HV-550 Pro's design. Let's start with the heart of the vacuum cleaner—its main unit. It's equipped with a 350-watt inverter motor, delivering up to 30,000 Pa of suction power.

Main block

There's no trigger. The vacuum cleaner is controlled by buttons conveniently located under your thumb. These buttons turn the power on and off, as well as switch between operating modes. The vacuum cleaner has three modes: Eco, Automatic, and Turbo. The mode is indicated on the informative display.

Operating modes

In automatic mode, the Clever&Clean HV-550 Pro automatically adjusts suction power depending on how dirty the floor is. Incidentally, the display also shows the battery percentage while charging.

The battery is removable, which is a great feature. It can be charged directly from the adapter, or simply by placing the vacuum cleaner on the docking station or even using the floor-mounted accessory holder. Very convenient.

The dust collector is removable, revealing a blow-out HEPA filter. The bottom of the dust collector opens for self-cleaning at the station, as well as manual emptying. The dust collector's filtration system consists of a composite filter, a cyclone, and a mesh. These three filters are washable with water.

Let's move on to a review of the main floor nozzle. It features a light that illuminates the cleaning area, which is a plus. The brush comes with a fluffy roller, which is better suited for cleaning hard floors. A more versatile roller with short, flexible bristles, which is better for cleaning carpets, can be installed instead.

The mopping attachment deserves special attention. It also features a light. But what's even cooler is that it can be used for both vacuuming and wet cleaning. A suction port is located at the front, behind which are two rotating microfiber cloths. A pump automatically supplies water to the cloths. Water is poured into the reservoir from the top through a filler neck with a sealed valve. The water tank holds 200 ml.

A few words about the extension wand—it's telescopic, allowing you to adjust the vacuum's height to your own height. It's very convenient!

Learn more about the station. The Clever&Clean HV-550 Pro charges and self-cleans here. Self-cleaning is initiated manually using a button on the unit. The bottom of the dust bin opens, emptying all debris into a bag in the station. This bag is hidden under a magnetically secured lid.

The bag is disposable and has a shutter to prevent contents from falling out. Its capacity is relatively small – 1.5 liters.

Overall, my initial impression of the vacuum cleaner and station's performance is positive. I have a few comments, which I'll address in my final review.

Technical specifications

Key features of the Clever&Clean HV-550 Pro, as stated by the manufacturer:

  • The power consumption of the vacuum cleaner is 350 W.
  • The station's power consumption is 1000 W.
  • Suction power up to 30,000 Pa.
  • Li-Ion battery 2200 mAh.
  • Dust collector 400 ml.
  • Bag in the station: 1.5 l.
  • Working time: 15-60 min.
  • The noise level of the vacuum cleaner is 72.5-78 dB.
  • The weight of the fully assembled vacuum cleaner is 2.54 kg.
  • Station dimensions: 74*25*26 cm.

I personally tested the noise level and found it to be between 72.5 and 78 dB, which is quite standard for upright vacuum cleaners.

The main unit weighs 1,447 grams, the floor nozzle weighs 770 grams, and the extension tube weighs 322 grams. The fully assembled vacuum weighs 2,539 grams, making it slightly lighter than most similar vacuums.

Testing

A detailed video review with all tests has already been prepared and published on the channel:

Opening hours

And finally, let's move on to the tests. First, let's check the battery life of the Clever&Clean HV-550 Pro in Turbo mode with the main floor nozzle attached. It managed to run for just over 19 minutes, which is a very good result. It even exceeded the manufacturer's specifications. And considering the second battery, which is charged separately from the vacuum cleaner, the total runtime at maximum power is 38 minutes. That's pretty impressive!

Suction power

As for suction power, I tested it with two different rollers. With the carpet roller installed, the Clever&Clean HV-550 Pro was able to vacuum up dirt from 2mm and 4mm deep crevices in Eco mode, and at maximum power, it even managed to partially vacuum up 10mm crevices. With the fluffy roller installed, the vacuum thoroughly cleaned the entire stand, including 10mm crevices, even in Eco mode. I'd say the power is above average for this model. It's not the most powerful vacuum I've tested, but it's still more than sufficient for everyday use.

Collecting debris on laminate flooring

Now let's test how well the Clever&Clean HV-550 Pro picks up debris from hard floors with the fluffy roller attached. I scattered various types of debris on the laminate flooring: hair, fur, grains, and other small household debris. There's a minimal blind spot along the baseboard where the roller doesn't pick up any debris, even in Turbo mode. This is because the roller doesn't extend to the sides or front of the unit. Nevertheless, cleaning performance is good. The roller doesn't get tangled up in hair or fur. All debris is collected in the dust bin.

Carpet cleaning

The same debris was scattered on a low-pile carpet, and the Clever&Clean HV-550 Pro did an equally good job, thoroughly cleaning the carpet. This time, the carpet roller attachment was used, and as you can see, this type of roller picked up pet hair and fur.

The vacuum also cleans medium-pile carpets well, the roller doesn't jam, and the vacuum doesn't go into error mode. Test passed!

Wet cleaning

Speaking of wet cleaning, I didn't conduct complex tests with dried dirt and sauce stains for two reasons. First, a similar test was already conducted in a review of the previously published Clever&Clean HV-450It has the same floor polisher attachment. The second, more compelling reason is that the floor polisher attachment's cleaning module isn't self-cleaning during wet cleaning, like specialized wet vacuum cleaners. As a result, stains can be removed, but you'll have to wash the cleaning pads several times to get them clean again. This isn't very convenient.

This mopping attachment is perfect for everyday wet cleaning. Its biggest advantage is that the mopping pads extend beyond the edges of the body, allowing you to clean floors right up to baseboards and furniture—a blind spot for most robotic vacuums—if you choose this upright vacuum to complement your robot.

Wet cleaning

Overall, the implemented solution is much better than the standard water tanks and cloths found on some upright vacuum cleaners. However, this attachment provides a gentle damp cleaning rather than a full-scale wash of neglected floors.

Using additional attachments

It's also worth noting that the complete kit allows you to clean a sofa, areas beyond the reach of the main nozzle, and even car interiors. Overall, this vacuum cleaner is suitable for a variety of applications.

Self-cleaning

Finally, I'll tell you about the self-cleaning dust bin feature (a detailed test is available in the video review). For example, I filled the dust bin tightly with Christmas tree needles, which I specifically set aside for this purpose. They are immediately emptied from the bin when the self-cleaning feature is activated. However, if the vacuum cleaner's bin is full of fur and hair, self-cleaning may not work on the first try. In this case, we turn the feature on again and see that the vacuum cleaner generally cleans itself well.

You can also manually empty the vacuum cleaner's dust container if needed by opening the latch. However, in my opinion, it's a bit tight, and you need to use your other hand to help you open the bottom. I suspect it will loosen over time.

Personal opinion

The Clever&Clean HV-550 Pro upright vacuum cleaner was thoroughly tested. I'll highlight its pros and cons, then share my personal opinion. I liked the following:

  1. An effective self-cleaning station that's perfect for allergy sufferers who want to minimize their exposure to debris, as well as for those who simply don't feel like constantly emptying the dust container.
  2. High-quality waste collection on any surface, including carpets.
  3. A mopping attachment is included for wet cleaning. This attachment allows you to vacuum and wet clean simultaneously.
  4. Overall, a very good package, including all the main cleaning attachments, a spare battery and consumables.
  5. Convenient storage of attachments on the floor holder, which is also used to charge the second battery.
  6. An automatic power increase mode is provided when contamination is detected.
  7. Long working time.
  8. Removable battery.
  9. Removable dust collector.
  10. A telescopic extension tube allows you to conveniently adjust the height of the vacuum cleaner to suit your height.
  11. Illumination of the cleaning area in the floor nozzle and in the polishing nozzle.
  12. In my subjective opinion, it has a stylish design.
  13. Ergonomic design. The vacuum cleaner is easy to operate with one hand, everything comes apart, and it's lighter than similar products.
  14. Availability of warranty and service.
  15. Optimal price, considering the complete set and the presence of a self-cleaning station.

Speaking about the disadvantages, I can highlight rather minor comments about the vacuum cleaner:

  1. The vacuum cleaner cannot be parked vertically outside the station. This means if you want to take a break mid-cleaning, you'll need to either place it on the floor or prop it up.
  2. The self-cleaning station has a small bag volume compared to similar products.
  3. There is a minimal blind spot along the baseboard near the main floor nozzle.

Overall, I can say that this is the fourth self-cleaning upright vacuum cleaner I've reviewed, and compared to similar products, even from reputable brands, it has clear advantages and a better price. And considering that the company Clever&Clean I've known this product practically since its launch and trust the brand. I see no compelling reason not to recommend it. It's convenient, versatile, practical, and looks modern. What more could you want?

On that note, I'd like to end this review. If you have any questions, please ask them in the comments. Happy shopping, everyone. Bye!
